The story gets incredibly distorted, or any semblance of coherently putting it together in casual playthrough.Shit starts to break down after you meet Kikkinok.

The story is really simple, every task you receive on the main quest is spelled out to you and then you get a detailed explanation of why you're doing it.My problem with the story is that there is two of it, and the one in the second half of the game is much less interesting than the one in the first half. A youngster trying to save his village from a disaster was an interesting concept, and felt grounded despite the said disaster being supernatural. The chosen one bullshit that comes in the second half, opened by a lengthy expository monologue feels like fanfiction in comparison.That being said I still think it is worth playing all the way through.

I played the demo and thought the monster fusion thing was cool but I also wasn't really into JRPGs back then so I didn't play the full game

I was so disappointed by Jade Cocoon 2. I had hope they'd fix some things I didn't like about the first, but they just made everything worse.
