Why is Super Metroid so perfect?
Also who did the level design, Sakamoto?
If yes then why he didn't work as level designer in most of the sequels?

The only other Metroid game where I saw this kind of approach in the level design was Zero Mission
And AM2R if you don't count the official games

The Prime games are very linear and offer little liberty for the player to do sequence break

Dread has more than the Prime games but it's level design is not that great
>>
What's so great about sequence breaking in the modern era? If you discover a shortcut by yourself, I can see how that would deliver a thrill. If you found it in a guide or a YouTube video called "10 Ways to Sequence Break Super Metroid," as you almost certainly did, then where is the pleasure in that?

damn you can do that on the phone? you're pretty good
try and see if you can do it in the ice beam room when you get there

Thanks anon.
I already did the Ice Beam Room in my second playthrough though (this one is my 3rd playing on my phone).

Doing the trick is still hard and it's still fun.

There are also multiple ways of doing some sequence breaks.
So it's fun to experiment and try different things.

Fusion has similar level design and was designed by him too.
>>
Dunno what this metroid level design shit is, I just touch myself to the little alien things
>>
Also, for anyone who wanna try this mod/hack with thicc Samus, you can get the patch at Loverslab.

The level design from Fusion is good but you can't get the same amout of freedom as Super or Zero Mission.

But thanks for telling me it was designed by Sakamoto.

I wish he designed more games.

Freedom is overrated, and you wouldn't be playing a game like this if you valued it.

do third worlders really?

yeah, I cant believe he isnt playing as fat mexican samus with ovular morph ball like the devs intended.
>>
>>12239838
I would and I value player expression/creativity.
It doesn't break the game completely, just have some interesting alternative routes to do.

And I did sequence breaks in Super Metroid since I was a kid.
One of the first things I discovered without any guide was the Wall Jump.
This is probably the reason I don't understand why people hate the WJ in this game so much. For me it's completely intuitive and good to do, I prefer it to the WJ in Zero Mission (which is good as well but different).

The only major trick I didn't know at the time (and that I use a lot nowadays) was the mockball.

>>12239864
I also finished it with gamepad or keyboard, but playing it on a touch screen is a nice challenge.

>>12239865
I don't see the problem.

>>12239868
I always found this 4:3 aspect ratio weird. I don't know what the devs intended but I prefer to play it at 8:7, feels more natural.

because you have eyes and arent blinded to the obvious truth by muh crt nostalgia.

That's a big Brapstar

Why is her butt so big? If she sat on someone's face, they'd die for real, and that's not good at all.

What mod is this? I have a Justin Bailey mod but she's clothed there
>>
>>12241230
It's called Super Metroid THICC and it's available at Loverslab.

>Also who did the level design, Sakamoto?
Hilariously, his only contributions to the game were the fucking intro and ending cinematics. Shit like Fusion and Other didn't come out of nowhere.

>Fusion
>Similar design to Super
That's blatantly false, and Sakamoto only did the scenario writing of Fusion. https://www.mobygames.com/game/7812/metroid-fusion/credits/
