Chris is the spitting image of Stallone at the end of the movie Daylight, and we all know a frame from Judge Dread was used as the basis for RE1's box art. However, this movie was actually released months after Resident Evil and Chris' design was solidified in mid 1995. What a weird coincidence.

I'm pretty sure the idea for RE3 Nemesis was also inspired by the first Terminator.

no way

Here's a fun trivia fact: this game is mid and Alone In The Dark is better.

theres some weird shit you can do with gameshark on the re2 demo disc that came with re director's cut. i dont really remember much about it though. also theres one hidden screen that doesnt require gameshark, i think right before you get to the police station you can just run in place next to a gate or something and if you hit the right spot the screen will change to a different angle.
>>
a lot of scenarios in REmake actually came from the Arrange/Advanced mode of RE1

This is one I think most people are aware of, the backgrounds in RE2 and RE3 are littered with advertisements on the walls, the biggest one is a parody of Burger King called 'Burger Kong' and it's everywhere, even inside the RPD.
In the PS1 version it's almost impossible to read them. It is a bit more legible in other versions like the Dreamcast version. The Gamecube version has upscaled backgrounds and you can see clearly here.

And a lot come from prototype versions of RE1.

Most people are familiar with the Cerberus, but it's not the only name used for dog enemies, and if you want to be accurate, it's Cerberus in the original trilogy and its spinoffs, Colmillos for RE4, Adjule for RE5, Fenrir in Revelations, and Orthrus in Revelations 2.

I was always intrigued by the secret lab room in RE2 you need the two people fingerprints to enter. You can only enter it at the very end of your B route, it looks unique, has monsters in tubes and dead soldiers on the ground, features *a unique track not heard anywhere else in the game* yet the room itself is mostly useless. There's nothing but an extra SMG which at that point in the game you're probably not gonna use, especially if you do Claire A Leon B because the latter has the Deagle and shotgun. The room screams "hidden superboss or secret plot reveal" but there's nothing. In the N64 port they at least retroactively added a note referencing RE0 Hunters.

Got two more things. Alexander and Alexia Ashford were originally going to be named Hilbert and Hilda. 'Hilda' returns in Darkside Chronicles, and since this game is a retelling of Code Veronica, this could be a nod to the concept.

i recently played Alone in the dark : the new nightmare and i must admit it seems to me like a superior survival-horror when compared to the RE trilogy.
i dont know why it isnt talked about more, probably because it filters people since theres more puzzles and they are better than anything in RE.

That game utterly falls apart in the second half if you play as Carnby, it feels unfinished.

Oops, I am retard. Alfred Ashford*

There is a short story Biohazard: The True Story Behind Biohazard. This was included with the game if you preordered the Sega Saturn version of Biohazard 1. (you can find translations of this)
This story takes place before the events of the mansion where there is a character named Billy. We don't get a last name, but it is likely not however, the Billy Coen of Resident Evil 0.

Billy in this story is an old friend of Chris Redfield, who worked for Umbrella, and then dies at the end. The name may have been repurposed as a nod to this story.
>>
>>12242092
Originally is not the strong point of the Japanese race

>>12242135
>Rebecca never mentions Billy in the mansion to Chris or anyone else

The Ashfords were going to be German and Nazis. Nazis were going to be implied to be doing virus research and the Ashfords were going to carry on the research. I think they felt it was a little too cliche to give Umbrella a Nazi connection, so they make the Ashfords British aristocrats just like Spencer.

The word "zombie" is not used in RE1 at any point.
>>12241997
That's in the retail version too.
>>12242065
Actually no, Cerberus is the BOW created through cloning, RE2 dogs are just dogs infected with the G-virus and are called Zombie Dog.

For some reason, paintings of this castle have appeared throughout the series, like the hallway where you see the first zombie eating Kenneth in the OG and in the piano room in the Remake.

The intro with the dogs attacking the characters is from Alice Cooper's Monster Dog right down to using some of the same camera angles. You could argue the whole setup of people being trapped in a house because killer dogs are prowling around outside comes from the same movie.

>>
>>12243464
I said this the last time this was posted. The howls when the guy opens the window around 13 seconds sound like the same exact howls you hear in the outdoor ambience in RE1. They're from some sound library and I've heard them in other stuff too but it's a fun coincidence.

There's also 0 indication in RE1 that the T virus brings people back from the dead. It never says bites or scratches can spread it either. From the files, it comes across as an airborne virus that takes about a week to strip away your humanity and turn you into a mindless cannibal running on pure instinct if you're exposed to it.
I was disappointed when RE2 just defaulted to the same boring old Romero zombie rules.

If we're not talking about additional content (this is before RE2) I remember veyr clearly in the underground passage several zombies eating a body, and if you go up to that body, that guy they were eating is a zombie! You would have to blind, deaf and dumb not to see it was always like this.

The naked brown zombies in the labs are clearly cadavers from the nearby morgue. Unless a bunch of scientists all got naked for some reason.

Sorry, misremembered the location.
It's that lab on the bottom floor, across from the room where you do the fingerprint scan. You can see a lot of landmarks from the Birkin flashback in that area.
