Let's have a thread about retro HAL Laboratory games that were NOT published by Nintendo.

This includes games like:
>Air Fortress (NES)
>Alcahest (SFC)
>Arcana (SNES)
>Defender II (NES port)
>Eggerland / Adventures of Lolo (Several systems)
>Fire Bam (FDS)
>Ghostbusters II & New Ghostbusters II (GB, NES)
>HAL Wrestling (GB)
>HAL's Hole In One Golf (SNES)
>HyperZone (SNES)
>Joust (NES port)
>Metal Slader Glory & Metal Slader Glory: Director's Cut (FC, SFC)
>Millipede (NES port)
>Revenge of the 'Gator (GB)
>Rollerball (NES)
>Trax (GB)
>Uchūkeibitai SDF (FC)
>Vegas Dream & Vegas Stakes (NES, SNES & GB)

Of these, which do you consider to be the best and worst, and why?
Did their output improve or disimprove when Nintendo made them a second party developer?
>>
Melee is by far their best game so i think they improve with Nintendo

i rented ghostbusters 2 once but barely remember it. ive played joust a bit (i think the game mightve been an unlock in another game i had) and millipide. but really the only one ive spent any real time with is lolo. i thought the first 2 games were phenomenal. just the right difficulty to keep me engaged, and provide a few challenges that took me a bit but was always able to pull thru and did not get too frustrating. i lost interest in the third game. i did play them pretty much back to back to back so maybe i was burnt out.

The Atari arcade NES ports were commissioned by Nintendo to impress Atari and then shelved and released much later
>>
Ghostbusters II on NES is underrated as fuck, great game. Just too easy.

Nice to see that they were making Pinball games even before Pinball on NES.

>Arcana (SNES)

I could still never figure out what the hell was up with those spell names.

Actually Nintendo invented pinball, right after they invented the analog stick.

They had proper names in the Japanese version. The English translation didn't bother and just called them all "attribute" for some reason.

Adventures of Lolo is probably the best of that list, for me anyway.

Worst (of the non-JP exclusives) is probably Vegas Dreams, not because it's bad but I just can't imagine who wanted a non PC gambling sim in 1988.

Charging full price for Defender/Millipede/Joust after 1988 is just strange. They were really dated games by then and had already came out on Atari for like $25.

It's funny how the very first pinball game on the NES is also the best one.
