>>12247258Have you played either? TF series is much more varied and has a much deeper weapons system for one, Darius is just straight 1 weapon linear upgrade plus shield. The arcade versions have slow movement making it hard to dodge and move around the screen, this is probably the biggest problem and a common criticism. It's still a great game in it's own right, just a simpler game.

>>12247267I've beaten both games, on hardest. Which is harder on Darius 2 because of it's rank system and the fact that it will unfairly time you out with death cubes on the last stage for no reason. Just because tf4 has more weapons doesn't invalidate that it's full of janky gotcha bullshit and graphics that look super muddy on a crt (like these tiny blue specks that look like decoration but actually kill you.) So yes, it's memoslop and a chore to play. Let me guess, next you'll tell me that Ikaruga is a "puzzle game."

The weapons system is just one thing I don't really want to sit here and type all the reasons it's better, it's obvious to anyone who has played.Speaking in terms of non-gameplay attributes, TFIV's music and art style alone holds up to or exceeds anything Darius and that's really saying a lot because Taito has Zuntata and a dedicated anime studio did the art for Darius.
