What sets a developer above the usual, beyond the rest, is a respect for the product that demands every aspect of its presentation and delivery be at its peak.

There are zero buzzwords in there, illiterate mong. Buzzword is when you use "slop" or "kino" to define a game.

This
Zero buzzwords. 100% pure pseud.

Belief in a project. Thief is excellent in sound, music, level design, it's detection systems, and a personal favourite in relation to this game, the lore, setting, and general world.
>>
>>12250929
Pseud is a word used by people who are too retarded to be charmed by intellect.
>>
My favorite part about this game is that i can be stealthy without crouching.
>>
>>12251180
I like the fact that I actually feel tall. Most other FPS games make me feel like a manlet who's eye-level with everybody's chest.

I was disappointed by how trash the stealth is in this game. You're completely invisible if you sit in a dark corner right next to a guard; but if he walks 5 meters aways and you make a loud step it will run over to you.
>>
>>12251571
Yeah that's how it works in real life.

Sorry for your visual impairment.

the video game thief is not a realistic thievery simulator where guards can hear you rustle the carpet and feel you breathe and see your erect cock sticking out of the shadow woe is me

Can I ask a question Anon Kuns?
Are the creators of the Black Parade mod, ever going to release another amazing mod like they did with said mod.

I honestly think that this mods content/lore should be added to the official story of Thief given how freaking detailed and deep Black Parade is.
Not gushing over it, it's just an incredible mod that does justice to the world of Thief and sets the bar pretty fuckin' high.>>12249061
>>
>>12251571
Sounds like you're just a fucking retarded then, skill issue.
>>
>>12252912
Would love a T2 mod in the same vein. Don't care for the fantasy/horror/magic crap of T1.

>Black Parade
A tragic waste of time, energy, and talent. No one will care about NotGarrett vs. NotConstantine and his mall goth army 20 years from now.

You should check out Selection Day, it's one of the best FMs post-BP and imo one of the best ever, a personal top 10. Points to Hanover Aldercrash for doing new and interesting things with Dromed instead of rehashing old ideas.
>>
>>12254172
The fan campaign shadows of metal age or whatever was great though. Then all the FM and some of dark mod.
As much as I like Garrett, the real protagonist is The City, you have to be a dumb gay retard to think otherwise
>>
>>12254190
I dropped T2X after the snow mission but I'll give it credit for being more conceptually ambitious than BP. Agree on The City being the real main character; Garrett being a loner outlaw gives the player an excuse to see all aspects of the world (high/low, public/private, sacred/profane) from an outsider's perspective, allowing the devs to paint a complete picture of a decaying Autumn world.
>>
>>12251571
Theres actual lore reasons for why Garret is practically invisible while in darkness.
>>
>>12251650
I reckon you just don't understand this "dumb" mechanic.
NPCs in thief have two senses, sight and hearing. Staying in complete darkness makes you practically invisible to them. Walking on grass or carpets is almost inaudible. However, the inverse is also true. You'll be noticed immediately if you walk out into bright light, and you'll be heard immediately if you step on a tile floor next to a guard. You're complaining that a guard didn't see you in a pitch-black spot, then heard you when your shoes clackered on the loud floor.
There are some issues with it but it's probably the most complex detection system ever implemented in a stealth game. I wonder what your idea of non-dumb stealth mechanics is.
>>
You can tell that the devs at Looking Glass Studios were talented that even their Flight Simulator game was highly regarded by many people.

The best way to appreciate T1 is to approach it on it's own terms as a unique experience and not as a member of a pre-existing type like 'stealth', which is poorly defined to begin with anyway. 'Dying Earth' game isn't a bad choice if you want to use a pre-existing genre label, but I prefer 'Autumn' game, since the game takes place during the Autumn season (see the trees and dead leaves texture) and the world of T1 is in the Autumn stage in Spengler's sense of the term. Both are more on the mark than the nonsensical 'mediaeval steampunk' label that retards love to use.
>>
>>12254334
Yeah it's like 30 seconds in to the opening cutscene that you hear about how a Keeper moves invisibly through a fucking crowd, with only young Garrett able to actually see him, and that's why Garrett gets recruited to become one of them, before he drops out to go back to stealing shit, but now with secret library ninja powers.
Like how do you miss the basic setup from the fucking intro cutscene?
>>
>>12251571
Unpopular opinion, but true. I wonder if the brightness of LCDs skews modern perception though. On a CRT with properly calibrated gamma/brightness, you’d believe they couldn’t see you because you can’t see squat.
>>
>>12254368
That was a metaphor, retard
>>
>>12254539
Yeah, i turn down the game brightness until the shadows really are pitch black
>>
>>12254190
T2X was great. Had some really fun missions. The story and storytelling was a little bit of a letdown though. At least the cutscenes. I liked the in-game stuff.
>>
>>12254559
No, it isn't. What do you think it's a metaphor for? Do you know what a metaphor is?
>>
>>12253957
>fantasy/horror/magic crap of T1
actual pleb
>>
>>12254621
You're genuinely retarded
>>
>>12252912
>Are the creators of the Black Parade mod, ever going to release another amazing mod like they did with said mod.
They've released many great fan missions so check those out
>>
>>12254346
I've never played the 'stealth' games before and only heard praise regarding Thief. You can imagine my disappointment when it's so ridiculously easy to abuse shadows as if you have an invisibility cloak.

>>12254539
It's not the pitch-black darkness, though. You can clearly see light from the rooms shining on the hallway, and Garrett standing right between them.

>>12252967
Sounds like you're a moron.
>>
>>12255041
I accept your concession
