The first 1st-party NES game not released under the black box line. They were clearly proud of it.
>>12249226Kid Icarus and Metroid both released before it
>>12249234This is like the same with gray.
>>12249226>>12249234All Disk System ports too
>>12249237So, not black then?
>>12249264Yeah. It's like the same, just with a gray (grey) background instead of black. So it's really similar, almost the same, really. IMO.
>>12249264grey box just denotes that they use password saves. i consider them part of the black box line
>>12249226Pride is a sin.
Love the box.Love the cart.Love the game.Simple asIt's the Legend of Zelda, and it's really rad
>>12249269I'd argue that if a game isn't NROM, it cannot be a black box title.
Why did they put a hole in the box?
>>12250654typical nintendo doing anything to save a buck
>>12249226Got really into this one recently, it's really cool to read old guides in magazines and stuff
>>12249226>>12249234Black box - no save featureSilver box - password saveGold box - battery backed SRAMIt's too bad they didn't keep that box design scheme for the entire NES line. I also liked how Capcom and Konami had their own box design template in the early days.
>>1225325835+ years of intermittently playing NES games and I never noticed that. Well I guess it's because I didn't play black box games much as a kid, and mainly rented these especially early games rather than owning them
>>12249226>They were clearly proud of it.Noone cares what NoA thinks about games they didnt make.
there was a thread about cart terminology but it was deleted for e-celeb in the the OP just wanted to mention that I was looking through the manual for Metal Gear and it refers to the cart as a cassette
>>12254689Like I said in that other thread, that seems perfectly fine since "cassette" just means "little box" or something.
