>>12250465damn the nostalgia critic aged that badly? no wonder he wore a hat
>>12250465I loved the mythological allusions in this game, it gave it this weird meta element that added to the uneasiness
i played max payne a long time ago and when i played it more recently i got pissed off at the adaptive difficulty and stopped after a few levels, but i want to play it again. i see that there are mods to remove the adaptive difficulty, are there any issues with them if anyone has used them?
>>12251730i haven't tried the mods but there's 100% something fucky going on, i was emulating the ps2 version (derp) until i remembered it was on pc and when i tried the latter it was balls hard
>>12252176yeah the game just ramps up the difficulty until you die, and if you quick load after dying it never resets either. you have to go back to the main menu and load from there i think for it to properly reset. it's crappy even though everything else about the game is good and oddly enough only the fugitive difficulty does it. every game that has had adaptive difficulty ends up making it worse. i hate it.

>>12252390It is a mystery.
>>12252345>played for a while and kept thinking max looked too W I D E before figuring out the widescreen fix wasn't working properlyfuckanyway i used "Max Payne Flat Difficulty (Vanilla PC Values)" from pcgamingwiki to get rid of the adaptive difficulty and it seems to be working fine. the game is a lot more enjoyable now without difficulty constantly swinging all over the place.
