Even the graphics are better now but not mindblowingly better, I haven't been impressed by graphics since Crysis (and the Dirt rally games around the same time). The seventh gen will never be "retro" because "retro" generations were all during a time when the majority of games were made by and for very different people. The seventh gen, especially the latter half, represents a move away from vidya as being a "nerd" thing to being something for much larger audiences, and publishers / execs pivoting to focus on those audiences for profit. It's arguable that the sixth gen got the ball rolling on this, but I'd say that most games still targeted specific, somewhat niche audiences and didn't dilute their identities to sell more.
