do you feel guilty when you emulate
No, that's retarded
does op feel guilty about being a faggot
Emulation keeps this board alive. Most of you wouldn't be able to play almost anything without it.
>>12251994
>>12251987My heart and actions are utterly unclouded...! All of it is justice!
>>12251994>boards are dead unless they're fastnah
no. it's my computer, i can run whatever instructions in it that i like.you can argue something about art assets or music, but what if you pass someone's screen incidentally? what if you happen to look inside a museum's window without paying, or they show excerpts from an orchestra on TV?
>>12251987Why would I?
>>12252015Why would I?
>>12251987fuck noMiyamoto is a greedy faggot, Nintendo went to shit after Iwata died.
>>12252015>low IQ retard doesn't get the point and thinks it's about high board activitytypical
>>12252054i know they've released 'deluxe' re-releases of games since the SNES (and arguably earlier if you count arcade ports).but when it is quite literally the same game (i.e. just a ROM), why not just... give those to everyone? by the time the Wii rolled around, they should just sold 'The NES Collection' and 'The SNES Collection' for $40. every ROM they have the rights to, on one disc. what's their goal with stopping emulation? makes no sense.
I make games sometimes myself, and I can't speak for all game creators, obviously, but if someone was playing a game I made and they really loved it and it was special for them, then it wouldn't really matter to me how they played it, I would find it so wonderful all the same.Playing video games on the original hardware is great in a way that emulation can't replace, and everyone should try it, but as long as you're having fun and making memories, you're playing games right in my book.
>>12251987>do you feel guilty when you emulateWhy would you, especially on /vr/?Maybe I could understand feeling that way if a game was within the current generation, or less than 10 years old. If you really cared that much.
>>12252064>what's their goal with stopping emulation? If they released compilations of their entire romsets for NES and SNES, how would they charge a subscription to play said ROMs on Switch Online?
You feel guilty about emulation because it's piracyI feel guilty about emulation because it will never match original hardware and anything less feels like a disserviceWe are not the same
>>12251987No guilt, but it does feel cheap somehow. Can't enjoy a game fully that way. Not using save states and fast forward helps.
>>12252160>it will never match original hardwareCorrect, it surpasses it.
>>12252160>cycle accurate emulator>OEM controller + USB adapter>CRT displayit's literally identical
>>12251987I don't emulate and I could give a shit if someone does
No, on the contrary, I find it nice. Through the efforts of countless people and very talented developers, I’m in a position where absolutely any game I ever heard of 20 years ago can be freely played in my living room with any controller I please. I can learn about a game that was somebody’s childhood and pull it up in minutes.
>>12252173The amount of input lag wont be. Don't care if its faster or slower, it wont be identical and thats what matters.
>>12252313I don't notice any difference.
No, I'm not white
>>12252505Do you feel ashamed when you emulate?
>>12252508No, I'm not white
>>12252513non-white societies are shame-based
>>12251987>emulate>>>/v/
>>12251987No, but I'm an oldfag who started emulating in the late 90s. I think I hardly even thought of it as pirating back then, it was just something cool you could do with a computer. Still is. And then when napster came, pirating became mainstream anyway.
It's not just this board that wouldn't exist without emulation, it's the entire hobby. Emulation made everything possible, most of the people who only swear by "real hardware" wouldn't even know half the games they know if emulation didn't exist, because emulation made all the cataloguing and information gathering and spreading so much easier. Without emulation a game like "Gimmick" wouldn't be "le hidden gem", it would be virtually unknown, that's of course without mentionning all the games that stayed in Japan and all the translations. So you shouldn't feel 'guilty' about emulation, you should feel PROUD.Anti-emulation retards are try hards who probably wouldn't even be part of the hobby had emulation made it popular.
>>12251987I follow the principle that if I like something, I support the original creator by buying the game. But with a lot of old games, the original creators don't even get a share of the money anymore. I remember some interview with a dev (can't remember which now) where he told some of his games were put on GOG literally right after his royalties expired.
yes my biggest regret in life is not giving nintendo more money
fuck no lmao
>>12251987No i just like playing on consoles
>>12252107because it's just a game, and it's a game they've already made, it's as close to free as it gets.i can put Super Mario 64 in my Nintendo 64. i did pay Nintendo for that ROM data.i'd get what you're saying if ALL games were sofware-as-a-service, but they're not. Nintendo still sell games (on cards, even!)
>>12252054>Nintendo went to shit after Iwata died.wise words, sadnew captcha sucks dicks
>>12251997>>12252015If this board was hardware only, the amount of consolewarring would be through the roof.It would also be full of faggots showing off their collections and "recent finds" rather than discussing vidya.
If anything I feel guilty about not emulating more
>>12252642>new captcha sucks dicksWhy? It's awesome. Very easy and really quick to do. They usually get changed for the worse, so I'm surprised it was a good change this time around.
>>12253032We're on /vr/. New is bad, old is good.
>>12253032it broke me at one point and said no captcha required, but trying to post said i need to complete the captcha.
>>12251987Quite the opposite. Emulating Nintendo games specifically feels extra satisfying.
>>12251987Not at all. Emulation has been a valuable development tool since long before you were born.A better question is why do you feel guilty about it?
>>12253025>If anything I feel guilty about not emulating moreThisI could be enjoying games and giving them the love they deserve instead of posting here
>>12251987Yes, i cry every night after i do it.
>>12251987i dont do it, its like wanking vs real sex
>>12252281yeah but all that convenience means that you have a very wide but very shallow experience since there are too many roms to fully dive into in one lifetime. You are left relying on suggestions from retards on the internet. In the old days I would play the absolute shit out of every game and it was more rewarding, much higher tolerance for difficulty. No staring at long lists of roms and dipping into a few for a few minutes, then posting epic nostalgia memes in social media. Emulation is anal cancer.
>>12251987If I went out of my way and bought any retro games, the developers or publishers wouldn't even see a fraction of a cent. It all goes to resellers. So no, they made their money when the game came out.
>>12251987do you feel guilty when you breathe?
>>12254327Sounds like a personal problem.
Nope. Don't feel a hint of guilt when I emulate newly released Switch games on my PC for a superior experience or on an Android handheld for a more portable experience than what the Switch offers. Fuck the corpos.
>>12251987I did when I was age 10-14 and sometimes when I was dealing with irl issues I would pray and negotiate deletion of ROMs from my hard drive in return for other things
You should feel guilty if you don't delete the ROM after 48 hours, because that's when it becomes illegal. Until those 48 hours it falls under fair use.
>>12251987why would i
>>12252516>non-white societies are shame-basedThat'd explain Americans
>>12252071BASED and SOVL... care to show any of your stuff, anon? If you feel comfortable doing so, of course.
>>12254327I think we should ban libraries because they give people access to too many books. Readers would get a much richer experience from each book if they could only read fewer of them.
>>12254327Your life would not be improved if you were forced to play some NES shovelware title for 8 hours, instead of fluttering through the pages of roms and giving each a taste.
>>12253009My console/computer collection is packed away in boxes under my dad's house. Since emulation is good enough, I haven't felt the need to dig them up.
