Anyone have an experience with these PSxMemCards for PS1/PS2 games? Thinking of buying the Gen 2 off aliexpress, but I've heard certain games can just wipe your entire sd card lmao. There's also the MemCardPro2 which is supposedly higher quality, but it's like 50 bucks more.Should also add I'm not looking to run games off an SD card or anything, I have burnt CDs and a hard drive already set up. Just saving
>>12252182My first PS1 memory card was one of those multi-page third-party ones. It eventually "forgot" that the first page existed, so I lost a ton of stuff. I have only used regular first-party cards since then without a problem.
>>12252182I think it's frustrating that so many games only seem to support the first memory card slot
>>12252182Psxmemcard gen2 works well. I use it with xstation and have it set to create a new memory card for each game id. Paid like 15 bucks for it during a random sale.
I have one. Can't complain. PS2 FAT 50001All games working perfectly through MMCE.No issues so far.
>>12252272>>12252267Have you saved both PS1 and PS2 games to it? Supposedly even the manual mentions that can cause issues
>>12252282No, still using the original PS2 memory card. I'd just buy another psxmemcard if needed since they're cheap.
>>12252182Memcard pro 2 is nice. I have my fmcb on it and can even load isos from it. Very cool though
>>12252182I have the SD2PSX, which is open source. MemCardPro isn't.PSxMemCard is based on SD2PSX, buy that one.
>>12252247There's a difference between contemporary third-party chinkshit and aftermarket devices built by autists for autists, retard
>>12252182I've got one and it does exactly what it says it does. My only complaint is that every once in a while when loading a game it doesn't switch to the correct memory card and I have to restart. It's pretty infrequent though. For what it's worth I use it with an Xstation PSX, and PSNBB PS2 (OPL as a loader). I have all of the other 8BitMod memory cards because I lacked the patience to wait for the knock off versions (still waiting on my DC VMUPro preorder) and they offer pretty much the same experience. Go for the cheaper one.
I have the Pro 2 but I never set it up properly so I'm not using it as effectively as I want.
>>12252921When that happens, instead of restarting you can push one of the buttons (or both, I forget) and it'll switch to the correct gameID memory card.
Reminder you should install the extended firmware if you're using a SD2PSX.
>>12252675If the similarity is a risk of data loss, that's important to know.
>>12253083>If the similarity is a risk of data lossIt isn't, dumbass. These use microSD cards to store your saves, so as long as you're not buying the absolute cheapest AliExpress knock-off chinkshit ones, there's near-zero risk of losing anything. Not to mention you can simply pop the microSD card out and copy your saves onto a PC. Or, if you coughed up for the MemCard PRO2 instead of the chink clone, it has built-in wireless capabilities and you can have it automatically back up your saves to the cloud, or transfer them via FTP.
>>12253017Thanks for the advice! I'll try it out next time it happens.
>>12253094I actually have had the official one corrupt an SD card before, but not the Ali Express one. Just because it's official doesnt make it flawless. One is made by a bunch of hobbyists, and the other is made cheaply by reverse engineers.
>>12253169But of course you have sweaty
So basically is it worth it to buy the expensive one if I want one memory card for both consoles that will work great with my xstation and for booting ps2 games
>>12254191make your own thread
>>12252182Just buy the ones from 8bitmodsThey're cheap enough already and you know you won't get issues, they also update the fw if there's a problem
>>12252182>There's also the MemCardPro2 which is supposedly higher quality, but it's like 50 bucks more.WTF? The bootleg MemCardPro2 costs $50 MORE than the bootleg MemCardPro1? Dude, the official MemCardPro2 is under $50. Usually bootlegs are cheaper than the official products they're ripping off due to being cheap shoddy clones.
>>12254702you got it wrong, psxmemcard the chink shit that uses the sd2psx fw
>>12254723>psxmemcard the chink shit that uses the sd2psx fwAh yes, the firmware that didn't even exist until two years AFTER the PSX Memcard Pro came out. Yeah, clearly they used their time machine to steal the firmware of a device that can fry your PSX years before the very first github commit.
