I understand everything... I'm Japanese after all.

What is the point of this thread?

believe it or not, there are actually people who are at war with a website.
saddest thing.
>>
But do you understand true love?
>>

>tfw rusty as hell and can't understand it anymore
>>
I really only play games in japanese myself

Yeah i know YWNBJ or whatever but i enjoy it

>YWNBJ
when people say that its just insecure projection. Its a completely toothless insult to most normal people that just enjoy japanese games, are competent enough to learn something new, and arent delusional enough to think that games getting warped to fit into a different languages culture is an acceptable solution.
>>
Question to the anons in this thread: do you just know enough to read Japanese, or do you actually know how to write and speak it too?
>>

I have completed over 300 text heavy japanese games largely unassisted by a dictionary. I can easily tell you the 音読み reading, 訓読み reading, and meaning of 1700+ kanji. I could probably write the 五十音 by hand but no promises, I havent done it in 5 years. I have no ability to create a natural japanese sentence in a conversation but I can understand what is being said to me fairly easily. Basically I know just enough to read Japanese.
>>
I don't want a walkthrough.
I think people should figure out the puzzles themselves, and learn to read Japanese.
Five years ago, when I played Pokemon Ruby/Sapphire before the American version was out, I manually translated every line with a kanji dictionary to understand what the hell was going on. There's no reason people shouldn't do the same.

Where does the time go...

I can think of one pretty good reason: Ruby and Sapphire are written entirely in kana.

What are the best mods to translate FF2 and FF3? They're the last classic FFs I haven't touched.

>>12254769
Chaos Rush translations for both.

i live in japan with a japanese wife and just barely failed the kanken 2 recently which is a test for writing and reading all the common kanji
>>
I cba to learn Japanese. I memorized all the kana and can effortlessly read out English kana words which is enough to navigate most menus.

Thank you. I've been playing 3 now and everything is good

By pretending to be japanese?
>>
>>12254231
So how much worse is the English translation for 1
>>
>>12254564
okay but Ozzie Slash and Flea are peak

Compared to?
>>

The original Japanese text
>>
>>12258565
How can the english translation be a worse translation than the non-translated original japanese text?
>>
>>12258569
A translation can be worse than the original for all kinds of reasons
The translation can leave stuff out, if nothing else
Or maybe the Japanese original has a straightforward hint and a translation only has a maddeningly oblique hint
>>

But the japanese isn't a translation,
