I've never really given the first Battlefront a chance. I felt like Battlefront 2 was just an upgrade in every way, minus the maps. I decided to replay the first one today however and my opinion has changed. One of my biggest gripes was the lack of a run button. I almost thought it was something they accidentally left out because of how large the maps were. However after replaying it, I think they want you to focus on certain fronts of the map instead of moving from point A to point B on foot. The slowness also leads to some very intense fighting since you can't just sprint out and regroup. Playing it more like a pseudo tactical milsim game was an overall better experience than trying to play it like 2. The faction helper enemies not counting towards the overall score sucks though, and the 3 way battle maps are insanely difficult, but it's probably a skill issue. Anyways, OG Battlefront 1 and 2 thread.

There's a mod for the pc edition that ups the army counts to like 350 400 or something and has like 50 per team on the map at one time its pretty chaotic and alot of fun
>>
It's like ocarina of time where you walk sideways and spam the jump person so you roll across the map at warp speed

I prefer a lot about the first one, but BF2 wins out because of the improved galactic conquest and mods

For years I didn't get it. Then I realized the problem was I was playing the soulless PC version. I played the kino PS2 version and it was incredible.

Battlefront 2 has the most garbage progression feature which you can't opt out of where after a certain point your guns get purple bullets. The standard rifleman kit is now a purple 3 round burst, for example.
The whole point of the game is to play as an average soldier, but now you have to play as the guy with the one unique gun. Genuinely ruined the game for me back then.

You can also survive underwater and go prone.

holy autism

Honestly he's right. The burst rifle upgrade is rather annoying since it imposes a new fire mode on your weapon, which makes you waste ammo.
And then there's the annoying-ass OP hero characters steamrolling everything.

The Sniper/Recon's beam rifle is the worst offender for this, turns a great weapon into a shitty laser beam that can't even headshot

That reminds me of how droids always lose on the water maps because the droidekas roll through the water and drown en masse

2 is a downgrade.
Jedis are cringe and space battles are boring.

All of them activated my autism because it's an "upgrade" that you don't choose because it's unlocked naturally as you play without trying, and it can't be disabled once that unlock is reached.
I wanted to be a regular droid not The Droid.
Considering how they repeat the games ethos is to be a regular soldier I'm surprised this and the hero shit made it in.

It really pissed me off how you couldn't play as a regular droid with a regular blaster in BF2. I had to cope by picking the sniper droid who had no color markings and make do with the pistol.
