What I love about Super Mario World is that it provides more room for voluntary challenges rather than requiring that you complete the game a certain way. For example, it has been suggested the cape feather is overpowered, though much of the game is designed around providing opportunities for the cape to make things easier. Instead, one can opt to use the arguably less common fireflower, which while powerful, has different mechanics that offer a fresh way to play through the levels. If anything, it can be a challenge just to keep the flower without losing or overwriting it. I much prefer open, organic modes of play like this to mandatory "here's the rules for this segment, complete it to check of a box saying you cleared the content".
>>12256692Yeah but I like Mario 3's tail whip attack more. I know it's not canon and it's supposed to be a stage play but it's like good. Helping the kings turn back into human and sit, it's good.
>>12256697It did really happen, we're just participating in the recreation of the story, so future generations can know. Mario really saved those kings

>>12256703Is the Mushroom Kingdom an empire? What's really going on with the geopolitics of this world? What, exactly, is Princess Toadstool's position?
>>12256692the tanuki tail/suit looked way cooler and controlled better as well. no reason for that change whatsoever.
>>12256704In the first Super Mario game King Koopa takes over all the Mushroom Kingdom and Mario is recapturing territories. Literally capturing control points like it's Counter Strike. I'm guessing Bowser got rid of the other kings permanently because we haven't seen them return. So modern Mushroom Kingdom is like an entire continent of vacant land the two remaining kingdoms are fighting for because two dudes really wanna bang this one princess.
>>12256692What kind of sucks IMO is that small Mario cannot crunch blocks. There's also that one exit you cannot get without cape. This heavily limits what you can do with small Mario, I do feel like some stages were clearly designed with cape in mind.Anyway, I often lose cape, and it's not like it's present in every level. Traveling between stages takes forever, so going back to get cape is not something I do often. So if you don't fly through stages, I think it's kind of balanced because it's not easy to hold on to.
SMB3 doesn't need self imposed challenges to be fun. Just saying.
>>12256778And there's the sour grapes
>>12256778Well you don't have to be negative and catty about it.
Besides everyone knows Mario 2 USA is the best game in the franchise. You can play as Toad. But uh Mario World is pretty good too. Needed some more Toad though.
I never got the feather cape complaint. As a kid it never even crossed my mind to abuse it. And I say this as someone who always sides with SMB3 in those debates.
>>12256697gay furry coon tail lmao
>>12256692>what I like about this game is you can intentionally play it suboptimallyOkay? Not a lot of games that doesn't apply to.
>>12256692You get it. The best Nintendo games feel like a playground and let you explore the same game and worlds in different ways.
>>12257128>As a kid it never even crossed my mind to abuse itMeanwhile kid me was trying to get blue Yoshi ASAP to fly over everything. Then I wondered why I spend more time playing Mario Allstars instead, I was dumb.
>>12256692tell us something we don't know professor
>>12256796My daughter would agree with you on both points anon. That's not an insult, she just also likes toad and SMB2
>>12256697>Helping the kings turn back into human and sit, it's good.ok
>>12256796>>12257778>>12256715seems legit...
>>12257392Kid me did the same but just to get star road opened up for the real fun levels
>>12256692>"here's the rules for this segment, complete it to check of a box saying you cleared the content"You mean aonumaslop?
