why is Ocarina of Time considered the greatest game ever made when Chrono Trigger and Final Fantady VI exist?
>>
>>12258357
Ocarina appeals to people other than weebs
>>
>>12258359
there's very little weeb-appeal in Chrono Trigger besides being a jrpg and turn-based (which it barely even that either)
>>
>>12258357
Final Fantasy VI isn't even close to the level of quality as Chrono Trigger. I'm beyond tired of this retro revisionist history. FFVI is the best of the pre-VII FF's but that's not saying much at all.
>>
>>12258357
>snes baby once again putting his overrated jrpgslop on a pedestal
Hell I don't give a fuck about zelda but at least it's not generic jrpg #1002
>>
>>12258357
I wish there was official art of Lavos Core, all we've got is its final boss sprite and that's pretty open to interpretation.
>>
>>12258423
I don't think there's official art for the phase 2 giant mechanical robot form either but he's huge and way more detailed so there's less that begs interpretation
Undoubtedly it was to leave the true identity/nature of Lavos concealed until the player experienced it themselves firsthand (KINOOOO)
Even the last form where the right bit revives the fake core was one last "Surprise!" played on the player
they don't make games like this anymore man. Man I love Chrono Trigger

youre right, ffvi is much better than CT.

Imagine being an alien entity hooked up to a biological machine enough that you can control outer shells of yourself. It's not even magic, it's just the ultimate control of his environment.

i wonder WHY

Dunno. Why haven't you killed yourself yet?
>>

This is a bait post. You've specifically selected two games that are basically trying to do what OoT did in terms of making an "atmospheric adventure" game, only Ocarina surpasses them handily on virtually every front, even doing 'time manipulation' better than CT though the combined adult/child split and day/night cycles. The one thing that VI honesty has over OoT is better music for its actual final battle, but that's basically it, and aside from that OoT's final sequence is superior and concludes the game as a cumulation of everything that happened better than FFVI does.

by who? Ocarina of Time speedrunners and casuals with terminal nostalgia syndrome?

Could you at least explain what you think makes these 3NiaR games better than OoT.

There is no "best game of all time".
You can't compare some titles to others.
How are you gonna compare Ocarina of Time to something like Half-Life?

Entire differently games.

So it's pointless to do these comparisons.
>>
>>12258357
I agree. Warcraft 3 is much better.

I don't look down on anyone for simply not liking Zelda. But people who actively attack people who hold it in high regard, because they don't understand why people like it so much as they don't appreciate its best qualities themselves, and have to parade this idea they they have some objective capability to make superior judgements, those people I just feel sorry for.

OOT does its genre of action-adventure well, gameplay, progression, exploration, dungeons, puzzles, the journey at its lowest is 7/10 and highest 9/10. Story itself isn't even that bad, it's serviceable, but doesn't pretend to be shakespeare like modern movie-games, and isn't barebones/retarded like BOTW/TOTK. It doesn't pad out game time with collectathon-slop either like WW/BOTW/TOTK do, and has less boring segments compared to TP/SS. OOT overall is a better game. FF6/CT are well-recieved games by virtue of story alone, but the gameplay itself is nothing outstanding, most JRPGs are just a gross reinterpretation of RPGs that somehow morphed into movie-games with a fixed protagonist and lots of padding. Square Enix is a notorious offender of this.

yeah I'm not buyin it sorry
whatever even is there is rather innocuous and hardly the main focus. Even non-weebs know about and respect Dragonball

This is such toothless reasoning, it always gets my goat.
>How are you gonna compare Ocarina of Time to something like Half-Life?
Because I might be in late 1998/early 1999 with only 60 expendable dollars in my pocket and have to decide between one or the other. How long does it take to beat each game? How engrossing is the moment-to-moment gameplay, how gratifying is it to get through? How replayable is it? Which one will leave a more lasting impression on me? These are universal. They're comparable by virtue of them both being fucking video games, it's not like anyone's asking you to decide between buying Half-Life or a quality print of Van Gogh's "Starry Night." THAT would be something you can't compare.

This was such a lame ass final form. Space tick lavos is by far the most compelling form but if they really were hell-bent on having a mystique-ruining humanoid on the inside, it really should have ended with giant notCell. Imagine making the ultimate conclusion to your epic game the act of beating the second remaining little amorphous blobby companion of a little alien spaceman

To answer your question, a fresh 3D epic action adventure game in the infancy of the genre is infinitely more engaging than some repetitive turn based slogfests. Oot is so much more of an accomplishment than a couple of competently made jrpgs that just polished and perfected an already tired longrunning formula.

>why is plotslop considered the greatest game ever made when plotslop and plotslop exist?
>>
>>12258525
It only has 22 critic reviews. I would say GTA 4 is more impressive, since it maintains a score of 98 with almost 4 times as many reviews.
