Why didn’t the market recede or crash like it was supposed to? The mid 90s had all the makings of a crash. Retailers pulling out of gaming, over-saturation, dead consoles left and right, the beginnings of modern Internet interference and even the whole death of the micro computer as a concept. Even big industry titans like Sega knew it was coming. Then everything not just stabilized, but thrived by 1997. People naturally went to the PS1, Gameboy and PC as the winners in such mass that everything stabilized. Why did consoomers keep going into this landline when they used to run away from it not 15 years prior. It still makes no sense.

Sony saved video games from the crack of 1993

Thanks Sony

Because the games were good and not utter dogshit like Atari's shovelware.

Gaming never "crashes" crashes. It just goes into hiding to lick its wounds and the games are still being made.

Also you stated it, PS1 and Gameboy are like an effective two hit combo at keeping gaming afloat. You also forget late SNES releases like the DKC trilogy that pushed consoles. PC is more adult male hobbyist so they just appealed more to their audience and would've never truly gone away.

Things were looking dicey for a minute but the R-Zone got us through it.

The prices of retro games won't even begin to fall off until Gen-X is extinct.

I had a magazine that said something of crash in about 1996. I think pc gaming crashed in a way as so much support went to the ps1 if you compared 1994 releases to 1997 releases. I think it recovered when it was obvious ps1 was going to win right around final fantasy 7.

Sony unironically saved the industry. The explosive diarrhoea combo of the Saturn and N64 would have killed gaming as a mainstream pursuit had the PS1 not been there to give normalfags a home.

why are you zoomie diaper tards obsessed with money and marketing, this is wholly new, this was never what games (or movies) were about gor nerds, you guys are completely cooked
