What does /vr/ think about the EXA Arcade?https://exa.ac/en/games-list/?v=0f177369a3b7>Was completely out of the loop with the whole exa arcadia thing>Wait what Air Gallet "EXA Label", Fixeight "EXA Label" among many othersStill its kind of cool that they, I assume improved a game that didn't exactly do wonders in the arcades like AirGallet. On the other hand it feels like this frankensteins monster abomination they brought in the original artist ok but, who even worked on the gameplay?Hell the game isn't even presented properly since EX Arcadia doesn't do 240p.
>>12258641soulless modern Windows machines, not retro
>>12258648Pure shylock shenanigans.
Parasites of the highest grade.Earthion Exa label is a good example.
>>12258648>>12258887>>12258668I don't really mind the concept and execution of exa arcade and the anger against it mostly just sounds like pirates upset they can't pirate.

Mixed bag. On the one hand, it's actually providing a profitable arcade machine for arcade owners. Much like the old Neo Geo, it's a cheap machine with cheap games that can be easily swapped out. On the other hand, ShouTime being involved means he can't do dumps anymore, so arcade emulation loses out on whatever rarities he hadn't dumped before starting eXaArcadia. It's kinda gay that he asked the MAME devs to remove those Cave shooters he bought the IP rights to, but at least they didn't actually remove the code and just commented it out, so you can un-comment and compile yourself to get them back.Good for arcades and arcade owners, not so good for arcade gamers.
I'm never ever forgiving them for that Gimmick! remake. Why would they do that to the poor little girl in the cutscenes? Also from what I remember the game was pretty poorly adapted to widescreen. Should've never been greenlit. How is it that a game as good as Gimmick! has been raped three separate times?
>>12259014I appreciate the idea of making retro-inspired arcade games and trying to revive the idea of arcade games which can't be readily experienced on home consoles, therefore giving arcade operators new (or new-ish) games with a unique draw, in a relatively affordable and changeable setup. On the other hand, I wonder how much of a draw they really are. Two local arcades that I've been to have a cab or two with EXA mobos, and they don't necessarily seem to be any more popular than many of the actual old games which have been emulatable for many years.
I question more the frankensteining of old games. Who are the developers?
>>12259084They are more popular in Japan, since they aren't charging a monthly fee and demanding a cut of the profits like the other arcade companies.
>>12259126Isn't their HQ in Japan? I recall due to tariffs they declare the system as a poster or some shit.
EXA is an abbreviation of "EXploitation Arcade", system has an i3 cpu and a 1660 gpu, they charge $4.5K+ for special painted machines, and my picrel shows 2 different prices at the same time (i had either 2 tabs open in the same browser or different browsers at the same time) wtf?also charges up to $2.5K for emulated nes and mobile ports.also fucks with good games (DDPSDOJ) by changing things and trying to market it as their own product, whilst gatekeeping them on their shit overpriced pc, then sending C&D to mame team to remove games that they now own the IPs to, which have been in the public domain and emulatable in mame, when still owned by cave, yet cave didnt seem to mind as people will still buy their releases.fuck EXA, i heard the games have been dumped, i want them just for the fuck you aspect, i wont actually play them when i can play most of caves stuff on a ps2/ps3/360/pc.
>>12258641I hope they are successful and aren't cracked for a good while so they can release a lot of good games. Then in the future when their business model slows down or whatever I then hope it gets cracked or they port their stuff. A lot of selfish people when it comes to exa not realizing this shit is made for arcades, just like arcade games of decades past. If arcades aren't successful, you don't get arcade games.
>>12258907>mostly just sounds like pirates upset they can't pirate.yes, and it is absolutely justified because they made it so those exclusive games or versions are NEVER available outside their overly expensive platform, so no pc ports or console versions or anything.not everyone lives in US or Japan where people can go to an arcade to play SOME game for the platform, you know? call me a whiny pirate but everyone should have the right to play any game, and i mean EVERYONE.
>>12260075>yes, and it is absolutely justifiedI mean yeah, they can't get what they want. It's just gay behavior from pirates. Most of these people don't even know any exa games, they just know they can't get them.
>>12259935>i heard the games have been dumpedthat part is debatable, i also heard that, someone mention people actually were able to hack and dump the games but the Yakuza literally knocked down on the doors of those people and have them by the balls.Yeah, the YAGOOTZAH... of course that might be exaggeration, others claim that they did invested in all sort of security bullshit making them simply impossible to hack compared to other arcade platforms.
>>12258641>doood we are just like the heckin neogeode!!@>no, we will not release a home system equivalent of the hardware, not even for older titles that no one is buying anymore I like arcades, i wish they were still more plentiful, but brute forcing games into being "arcade exclusive", instead of just making something that is not really feasible to play at home, is a really lame endeavor.
>>12259995Almost everyone else figured out that the appeal to arcades was hardware that could do things you couldn't at home and if you can't accomplish that by just having a CPU 50x faster than a console you can still have unique controls or screens or crossing gimmicks with physical arcade machines or whatever rather than just back porting a game already ported to consoles.
>>12260207This. Arcades died because they just were not the high tech standard anymore. As much as people shit on Raw Thrills, they are honestly making games closer to the arcade experience than these guys. I am not even saying there shouldn't be the ability to come in and play some new retro games, but keeping them eternally locked to arcades, when actual arcade games of the past were constantly making the jump to the home player when they were no longer the hottest new release, doesn't make sense. People didn't stop playing fighters as soon as console ports were available. Especially now a days, the charm of just playing a quick round in an arcade you come across isnt going to go away just because you can also play it at home. I have a million ways to play Q*bert, but I will always plop in a quarter to play the real machine when I see it.
>>12258641exa is great for arcade players in japan.for everyone else its fucking terrible due to exa arcade releases being EXCLUSIVE to exa.
>>12258641Is this the scam company run by the child molester hoarding all those Dodonpachi variants?
Some retard boomer hot takes here. Really obvious that OP and others have never played an exa game or even go to arcades.Developing games that you can only play in an arcade or any format for that matter gets customers to play games on that platform. That's why people buy a Switch they want to play Nintendo games. Other Japanese companies like Sega stopped making games you could only play in the arcade and now they are dead in the arcade. No one wants to play something like SF6 or GGST when you can get it at home. That's why those games are dead in the arcade and exa games are the ones being played. Plopping a quarter once in a blue moon on an old retro game is not paying the rent.Gimmicky games like Raw Thrills shit are not even skill based games you can 1cc. They have a setting to kill you in a few minutes so the arcades can make more money.
>>12260223>People didn't stop playing fighters as soon as console ports were available.Back when the console ports were inferior to the arcade originals, no. But around the time of the Dreamcast the home ports were on par or better than the arcade originals, and arcades started dying left and right. By the end of 6th gen, arcades were a shell of what they were back in the 90's, and even fighting game tournaments had moved from actual arcade machines to console ports.
Do you people actually think this looks good? Not that AirGallet was in particular great but this just looks like bloated mess what's up with this mish mash 8ing, Raiden Fighters and Cave style chain shit.https://youtu.be/7N1lEHxxXLc?si=2RLSsWH0n9D9mK--
>>12260339>They have a setting to kill you in a few minutes so the arcades can make more money.I have never seen a single one ever set to do this, if even true. You can also absolutely 1cc them. I have done it on their Jurassic Park and Terminator. They aren't necessarily hard to do it on, but I never took damage outside of my own mistakes. Also plenty of people will still play games with home versions if they are in active traffic areas or hang-out spots. More so in urban areas obviously, but if it's a multiplayer game, the social aspect is the big draw.
>>12260939>I dont like shit, so no one should like it.fuck off EXA defender.
>>12260939looks dreadful
Isn't this that company that fucked over the shadow gangs Developer, then stole money from him?
>>12263216Stop making up shitPixelheart screwed them
Are any EXA-bound updated retrogames worth playing over the originals?
>>12260339yes... and while it IS understandable for a platform to have exclusives. it is NOT even remotely acceptable for a platform to be available to less than 5% of the fucking human species. What exa is doing is downright criminal.
never heard of it, looks like it's mostly shmups and fighters, the main appeal of arcade games to me is experiences you can't easily have at home like lightgun games and sit-down racers so seems pretty pointless
Entitled much
>>12258641I like it but I don't think its library justify buying one. There's like 3 games I'm interested and that's about it
