This game should have been delayed and released on the 360. They fucked themselves releasing on the PS2.
>>12258660this game caused my ps2 to explode and my house to burn down in a fire that killed my father and little sister. i haven't touched a video game since
>>12258660>This game should have been delayed and released on the 360.They could've done a PS2/360 release
>>12258660Why isn't this game as beloved as 2?
>>12258719The overall hype for the series has probably subdued by that point. 1 had an outstanding home conversion in an era when it meant something and 2 was a multiplatform blockbuster.
>>12258719Soul Calibur was never actually all that popular. It's why when you talk about SC2 all people can say is "hey that's the game with Link!!!!" or if you talk about SC4 all people say is. "Hey that's the game with Star Wars!!!" but most "fans" forget about Soul Edge/Blade even existing.
>>12258702What are you doing on /vr/ then?
>>12258719The home release is kinda buggy. There was an arcade release that addressed a lot of bugs and balance but it never received a home release.
>>12258719sc2 was multiplat, so a huge amount of people got to play it.sc3 had an arcade release AFTER ps2, so the only console version has shit balance, gameplay bugs and save corrupting bugs.
Game was probably more than 60% done, looking at the release list both before and after the bandai merger it looked like they weren't interested in the PS3 and 360 for a while, they were still going all in on the PS2 and DS for a good while.
>>12258719Slowish movementI don't mind it tho, 3 easily has my favorite character designs, stages and side content
>>12259105Same thing the rest of us do, never actually play any video games.
>>12258660I tend to agree because I skipped the game for that reason, but they did do 4 on the 360/ps3 and it sold extremely well, so what do they care?
>>12260756I didn't get into 3 until recently, but I really like it as a package, and I think if you want a soul calibur with a robust character creator without all the wank that they added into 4 onwards it's a great choice.
>>12258719It is beloved but in reality not in internet, as your old friends from 2000-2007 every single of them will tell you that still love this game.
>>12258660It underperformed (compared to tekken) because of several reasons:>has a black person on its cover art instead of a well-known character>the franchise was never that relevant next to tekken and other arcade fighters>fighthing games were not that relevant on consoles outside of the well established home consoles franchises, like Tekken and MK.>at the time, arcades were still the main way to play >its total sales figures are next to beloved games, like Burnout 3 (1.33m), Bully (1.5m), Resident Evil Outbreak (1.45m) and MK Deadly Aliance (1.7m)>the PS2 release was a guaranteed profit thanks to its large install base by late 2005>lastly, it was released way too lateStill, it's one of the best looking games of the generation and has the most interesting single player mode of all fighting games.
>>12258719Everyone that played it loved it. Many memories were made with friends tryingto make new characters(still have twoemory cards with saves from it).
>>12261726Ivy and Mitsurugi are right there and take up more room than he does.
>>12258660Why did they never push an update to this? I feel like "destroys your fucking memory card if you delete any data older than it" is bad enough to warrant printing some more discs
