I respect this game's balls to have persistent resources and permanent consequencesYou can really fuck yourself over if you're not careful
>>12258673In a way it's an interesting compromise between arcade and console design, "Okay you can keep playing but if you're bad your continues are gonna keep costing more and eventually you're just gonna have to restart anyway"
Not really, you can grind for coins.
>>12258695Hmm yeah I suppose locking you out of completed levels would have reinforced the game design a little better
>>12258673Originally when this game came out I thought it was a Ghosts and Goblins sequel because the main character was in his underwear all the time. As time went on I eventually separated the two in my mind and today I actually looked it up and it actually is a Ghosts and Goblins sequel. First impression me reading a magazine was right all along.
>>12258703The music didn't cue you in?
>>12258704I never played it, just saw ads for it in magazines.
>>12258698It achieves its goals well. Getting the true final boss (which is the only good boss in the game) and true ending directly impacts how many resources you can have and the fact that saving has a scaling cost the farther you progress which does push you to make in the moment decisions on item purchases. This also encourages you to play better and take risks to get more gold. It's solid game design.
>>12258894>Getting the true final boss (which is the only good boss in the game) and true ending directly impacts how many resources you can haveNo it doesn't all the kisses do is lock you out of the art gallery and I don't think the Mastery bonus level requires the kisses either just 100% each level.
For a game that requires precise jumping in some places there's too much input lag. Does it run better under emulation?
The new captcha is fine when making posts but absolutely impossible when attempting to start a new thread. I get like 5 images that have no discernable pattern, and this THREE TIMES. So it looks like 4chan's method to stop spamming and bots is making sure noone can make threads.
>>12259161Are you playing on a CRT or a scaler or just raw ass AV inputs on an HD TV? I'm using a scaler and the input lag doesn't seem too bad. I'm not super attuned to that though and I've heard a lot of PS2 games just have input lag due to sloppy programming.
>>12259161>>12259938Either way, unless you're using the AV inputs on an HD TV (which adds a ton of lag), emulation would be slightly laggier. I don't believe runahead works on the PCSX2 core of retroarch, but I could be wrong. That would be the only way to really mitigate it and make it better than native hardware.
