I'm looking for a Gen 2 mod and even Emerald mod that allows QoL enhancements, but doesn't go full retard adding in pokemon from newer gens, or things that weren't in their respective gens. Would the legacy games be good for this or is there something better?

>>12260110holy shit you dislike gen 2, we fucking get it now enough of the spam nigga
>>12260110For Emerald, get Revelation.
>>12260110Just use the universal pokemon randomizer for qol additions.
>>12260110Crystal Legacy is a solid hack. The creator added a few things like buffing shitmons and giving the legendary birds to endgame trainers, then releasing them for you to catch after beating them.>>12260128Who hurt you?
These games don't need QoL. Like genuinely, what do you need that the game doesn't have? I guess more bag space could be nice but that's more of a Gen 1 problem. Do you really need a run button? Just use the bike. If you really need the trade evolution mons so badly just use Pkhex or set up an emulator that supports the link cable, you definitely have access to these things if you're playing a romhack to begin with.>>12260252God I absolutely hate shit like this. The game balance didn't need to be changed, not every mon has to be a powerhouse with the best possible moves and stats. I have played this game from start to finish with some of the most retarded teams possible with stuff like Unown and Yanma and other "shitmons". It didn't even make the game all that much harder, turns out they're fine. And they absolutely didn't need to add mons with type advantages right outside every single gym in the game either. Seriously, why do Pokemon autists feel the need to always hyper optimize everything in their romhacks its like they don't understand the appeal of their own game and its why I avoid these romhacks like the fucking plague.
>>12260270>The game balance didn't need to be changedit did>not every mon has to be a powerhouse with the best possible moves and statsmost buffed pokemon got like 5-10 points and the worst cases like ariados got like 50-60. the whole point is to reduce grinding. adding 20 extra grinding hours or item abuse with a shitmon team does not make them good or make you better than anyone else at pokemon.>they absolutely didn't need to add mons with type advantages right outside every single gymthis is what the original games did>why do Pokemon autists feel the need to always hyper optimize everythingbecause "exploring" the same region again and catching em all is fucking boring and gay. give me more interesting battles like in ck+.
>>12260296Whatever you say autismo
>>12260296Didn't this hack give you access to Celebi for catching them all?
>>12260372yellow legacy does that for mew. celebi is just the gs ball event
>>12260270Agreed. Literally all I've ever wanted in a gen 2 romhack is more trainers using gen 2 mons and more variety on routes (WITHOUT going psychotic and having free Bulbasaur and Chikorita in Ilex Forest).
>>12260390Now you upset the purists that wanted the gen 2 Pokemon to be rare
>>12260395I don't even necessarily want gen 2 stuff on every route - I'd be happy just not having this.
>>12260403Of course I forgot the pic. I have ratbrain.
>>12260296>adding 20 extra grinding hours or item abuse with a shitmon team does not make them goodpaging batschizo
>>12260110Polished > Legacy
>>12262346agreeing with this. Me and my cousin have both been playing Polished and having an absolute blast with it. There are just a ton of smart little changes throughout the game (even a nice little change on how registered items can be accessed), a good boost in difficulty while still feeling balanced, and improved sprite art that helps accentuate the experience more than overwrite it. The amount of work the romhacker put in is honestly very, very impressive and I can't sing it's praises enough. It's the only pokemon game that has me legit embracing the various post gen 2 autisms like abilities, natures, and IV's just because it's so good. Here's a bad screenshot of a moment yesterday that had me hop off my chair in excitement. Can't remember the last game that had me doing that.
>>12262880>but doesn't go full retard adding in pokemon from newer gens, or things that weren't in their respective gens.that's the only caveat though. It adds regional forms for the pokemon that existed in gen 1 and 2, and it gives you the option to turn on or off the other stuff. I personally suggest leaving it on though as it's actually pretty fun to mess with considering the difficulty boots. Really feels like you are both building and raising your individual pokemon.
>>12260110I liked polished crystal. Theres a version where it changes some types and shit of the pokemon or a version that keeps it in line with the ogs.
