One of the best shooters I've played
>>
play more of them then
>>
Never gave it a shot, what do you like about it anon? Any details?
>>
the epitome of a rental fps. and by rental i mean play the demo for an hour then uninstall.
>>
PK is superior to SS1.
Come at me.
>>
>>12261482
only 1?
>>
>>12261447
The stake gun is fun
Gibbing is fun
The whole game's aesthetic is just awesome and extremely well done
>>
>>12261485
Never played the sequels.
>>
>>12261507
II is my personal favorite, it's too long but the levels are better than the 1st Encounter (not 2nd Encounter)
>>
>>12261430
Yep
I remember dropping and uninstalling Half life 2 immediately to play this after being stuck in a room for several minutes on an unskippable dialogue sequence.
Also dropped dropped Far cry after getting filtered by the retarded cheating AI and repetitive enemies.
God, how I hate PC take demos from the mid 2000s.
Overall, even consoles had better FPS games, but Painkiller saved the PC FPS from absolute boredom and cinematic crap.
>>
>>12261765
Seems Painkiller is only popular with peope that hate stories in shooters.
>>
>>12261767
Watching characters babbling like redditors (today's equivalent) isn't storytelling.
The player should be able to skip it, as any decent game.
>>
Terrible game
>>
>>12261765
No, Painkiller was boring. The whole gameplay was: go into big room, all doors close, 20 enemies spawn. Rinse & repeat.
>>
I am sure it's fun but I don't like the formula
>>
>>12261789
That describes every shooter ever before the advent of open world.
>>
>>12261430
Painkiller's aesthetics and soundtrack are S tier but I dislike the zero level design Serious Sam style gameplay.
>>
>>12261789
>bro what are you even playing? you're just walking around and hitting stuff
>>
>>12261796
No, it's the Serious Sam formula, but it's very dull in Painkiller.
>>
>>12261430
>have to play on highest difficulty to play all the levels
>>
>>12261850
Painkiller was way more dynamic and engaging than Serious Sam
>>
In PK the player is much faster than in Sam, you can run circles around the monsters. I've often heard that anything in the franchice beyond Overdose isn't worth playing, what do you think?
>>
>>12261954
Yeah everything after Battle out of Hell just feels like glorified fan map packs and isn't worth playing
>>
>>12261934
I don't think so, but I respect (don't care) your opinion.
>>
>>12261934
I liked Serious Sam a lot so I tried Painkiller once, and it just felt like nothing to me so I gave up partway through. I don't remember the details though. I only vaguely remember how it seemed like Serious Sam wanted me to have fun whereas Painkiller wanted me to do some repetitive work for an unknown purpose. I realize that both of these games are very repetitive, not just the one, but somehow that is the feeling I was left with.
