Discuss anything involving Wii homebrew for playing retro games.Right now I'm using the Retroarch Hexaeco build for games and it's been working very well so far with everything I've tried (Neo Geo was the only core that I tried that had crashes and it was with the big games like KoF2002).
>>12262920Do it do retroachivements yet?
Do any of these emulators have compatibility with USB controllers?
>>12263695You can install a homebrew app called fakemote to make ps4 controllers work.
>>12262920>most of those emulators are fucking shit and have not been updated since the early 2010s>bububububu GBATEMP told me they run well!
>>12262920Offtopic but we really should have the cutoff for /vr/ be 6th gen with special exceptions for the Wii and the OG DS.
>>12265027I thought the 3rd and 4th gen + GBA and GC emulators were great.
>>12265027most 8 and 16 bit games run perfectly fine, and only the most autistic people would notice anything wrong
>>12265050I wouldn say NintenDont is emulation, since the Wii its fully compatible with GCN because its literally just the same hardware with a tiny boost, tough GCN games running on Wii run better. So far emulation on Wii is a big Hit and Miss of a Mess, keep in mind that it depends on the pwoer of the Wii and the way the emulators are optimized or made, if you are using USB or SD to load and store data, and the Wii itself (it tends to work randomly and softlock or give you DSi stack dumps, also emulators might not work if you accidentally do a change on the setting it doesnt like).Playing on Wii U Doesnt Count, i hate GBATEMP's users whataboutisms on this one.NES - Acceptable (FCEUgx)Game Boy / Color - Faulty (EmGBA but it doesn suffer from micro pauses) SNES - Average (based on ancient versions of Snes9x, RX being the ''best'')GENESIS/SMS/GG - near perfect minus a few games and romhacks (Genesis Plus GX latest builds)32X - Still Faulty (PicoDrive)PS1 - Still in the works but doable (Wiistation, OpenGX is still WIP)Saturn - VERY EXPERIMENTAL (not worth atm) (SETAGx)N64 - WORTHLESS outside of VCMAME - Mostly Worthless outside of a few simple titles and even games like Caveman Ninja REFUSED to run at full speedGBA - Mostly perfect. (mGBA)
>>12265027They still get updated nowadays, disingenuous faggot.
>>12265104I'm using the Retroarch Hexaeco fork and the GameBoy games ran fine using the mGBA core (even beat a game on it recently), the stand alone mGBA emulator ran those games fine too (I used RA instead because of the limited display options mGBA has).As for Mame I tried some games I had and it ran them rather fine, CPS-3 games and large Neo-Geo games were the ones that had speed issues. Can't say for NES and SNES cores on RA but the stand alone emulators (fceux and snes9x) seemed to work fine.
>>12265915Gambatte would be a better choice if using RetroArch, since it's faster and better at GameBoy emulation than mGBA. There's also gpSP as an alternative if you need a more performant GBA emulator. VBA GX really should be updated to use the newest build as basis instead of some old ome from 2014.
>>12265027Theyre actually pretty decent now. Ps1 is good, I beat silent hill on my wii.
>>12266082With or without dithering turned on?
>>12266121Dithering on. The fps actually pretty rarely went below 60 most likely because the draw distance outside is naturally so low. Most other fully 3d games you would probably have to turn the dithering off to get a constant 60.
