what’s your ‘if you haven’t played it, you haven’t lived’ game. a game you think everyone needs to play once
Rapid River. The sheer simplicity of it is great, and yet the video game melded with the physicality of it all makes Rapid River satisfying. You can tilt the paddle left, right, and you can paddle it, and that's the whole game. But the various situations in getting out of currents or evading rocks in the river and frantically paddling or tilting the paddle left to right quickly with how being physical like this is entertaining. This is a game worth playing at least once.
>>12263096Spider-Man 2000 is a perfect licensed title and an example of what they should be like, also a great tribute to the 1994 TV show many of us grew up watching, it might look like jank when watching gameplay, but with the controller in your hands everything opens up and you genuinely feel like Spider-Man, 1st time I felt like this playing a super hero video game.
>>12263096Terranigma. It's fun, it's not too complex, the story is simple while being very deep, and the themes it explores are nice to ponder because you can apply them to your life.

>>12263096Picrel. Just played it for the first time last week. I'm not huge into shmups but this one was just so damn good.Another one would be Psychic Killer Taromaru for the Saturn. That game fuckin rules.Of course there's obvious ones like OoT, Metroid Prime, and Mario 64
HydroThunderThe arcade is the best experience.I had it for N64 and later the Dreamcast.N64 is still my favorite. If you use this on your YouTube channel please give a shout out to Lord Baiter (don’t come in, I’m bait’n!)
>>12264040>Beating a long RPG in another language with no external resources besides a dictionarywhat kind of challenge is this, this is turning yourself into a retard
>>12264151>learning to do something outside of your comfort zone is "turning yourself into a retard"You're right, we should just never try anything new ever.
>>12264160learning anew language is cool. playing an rpg blind is retardation
>>12264151what is the point of playing an rpg with a guide? it becomes a meaningless chore at that point. there's already no execution component so having a guide completely defeats the purpose of a RPG
>>12264295yeah man, guideless rpg playing means you play in a language you don’t know how to read
>>12264382shining force ii blows the first game out of the water
>>12264382lol, what was censored exactly?
>>12263096Quake 3 duels.>>12264040I've done 2 of these (STG and rhythm games), and I'm working on a third (playing through my first JRPG and VN in Japanese currently). Sell me on the other two.
>>12264729STG and rhythm are nice because they're purely single player. Fighting and time trials are PvP. Fighting combines game knowledge and execution and integrates it with real time psychology and option coverage which is very unique. Time trials are harder and more autistic than a shmup 1CC, they require more engine knowledge and routing than shmup clears. Less fun, but the high of success feels better than a 1CC. It's comparable to playing a shmup for score. Subjectively I enjoy rhythm and shmups more than these two but now I understand FGCels and speedtrannies and the skill that their successes require.
>>12264768this had fucking nothing to do with saying which game you think everyone should play, why did you interpret that as made-up challenge faggotry and derail an interesting thread
>>12264772those are the games I think everyone should play once and why. dont know why you're having a shitfit over it
>>12264772Someone's "must play" game is cutscene slop.
>>12264396I started SF1 on a whim and ended up liking it so much that I played to the end. Then I started 2 and on paper it should be better in every way, but at some point I got bored and quit playing. I liked the simplicity of the first game more.
>>12264797well that settles it then, you got bored and quit so no need to ever look further.
>>12263096Falcom's games in general. If I had to pick one specific one, probably Xanadu Next.
>>12264785>i never played shining force but i must reply negatively
I only ever played the Game Gear Shining Force and I loved it. Nintendo was clearly inspired by Sega when they made Golden Sun. Shining Force? no! golden Sun!
>>12264797>the simplicity of the first gameits literally the same shit, but 2 has a myriad of QoL fixes. for "playing sf1 to the end" and not getting bored at the chokepoints and slog forrest maps, theres nothing really like that in sf2 (except for the 2 desert battles. wow.). more likely you couldnt figure out how to get past taros and gave up, or you just happened to be a in a weird mood in life at the time. if you like sf1 that much, theres nothing in sf2 to make you THAT disinterested.
>>12265739>Nintendo>made Golden SunBait of the day.If it's not bait, then you're really close to figure out something about the game developers, anon.
>>12263096This game is boring as fuck. First game was better.
