I could deal with every other cryptic clue in this game but fuck this part, this was fucking horrible and it straight up ruined the game.

I want this game on Game Center CX, specifically so that I can see how a native Japanese person handles these riddles. There's so many people who say this or that, I want to see how the Japanese actually handle it in a blind playthrough.

I had no problem because I read Nintendo Power. There was something called public libraries in America. They'd have all the latest video game magazines loaded with information. I literally read everything I could every single month as soon as they came out. Castlevania II was actually the only NES Castlevania that I could beat.

that's the one they make the hint obvious for, you get the eyeball from the mansion and have to walk past it to leave. you could've switched back to the shield i guess but i don't remember any devils inbetween those points. the real bullshit one is the lake draining, not because they don't give you a hint, but because they tell you where to get that hint book in the wrong forest.

Imagine needing an external guide of the game that was neither published nor made available by the game devs themselves that costs even more money and being okay with it.
No matter the age, it's shitty game design if you need anything external to complete it, I would even understand a manual being required since that would come WITH the game. Nintendo Power wasn't even meant to be found in libraries, it was a monthly suscription service.

SOTN had logical puzzles. Even without a guide, it's possible for players to figure out the puzzles in the games through visual and musical hints and callbacks. But CV2 doesn't even try to do that; it's just bullshit, and no one can prove me wrong.

OP I figured this out when I was 6 years old by reading the clue about "Deborah Cliff" and then finding out where that was by reading the in-game signs telling you which direction the signs point to, then just trying the same thing that worked with the blue crystal to reveal the way to the mansion under the lake. It took me hours of play to finally then see the whirlwind appear and carry me away but I was able to finish the game not too long after that since it's not a long game at all.
