Check out Diablo. I think you'll like it.
>>
There's an interesting series out there called "The Legend of Zelda" that you might want to check out.

played it many years ago, forgot about it. great suggestion, thanks. i had it on psone. i’m gonna play this again.
>>12267127
i thought of that, yes. i’ve never played a link to the past and i will need to now. playing blood omen awakened in me the need to run around in that view, through forests and dungeons in particular. i was dreaming of that isometric view while playing the game. i guess i played it a lot

Alundra? I'm not gonna compare character model sizes to check.

Name a better game where you play as a horse

Pfff, easy.

Play Question 64. It’s like a kid friendly version of Blood Omen.

I'm an ardent defender of quest 64, but it's nothing like blood omen.

What separated Blood Omen from other Diablo clones? Is it just the great voice acting and story or are there gameplay innovations?
>>
>>12271014
blood omen came out before diablo
>>
>>12271041
I feel stupid now. Was Blood Omen then an inspiration for Diablo?
>>
>>12271184
No, their development was almost parallel. IIRC Blizzard initially wanted to make a 3rd-person AD&D-based dungeon crawler, but WoTC were their regular faggy selves w.r.t. licensing, and eventually retooled it into a more generic fantasy real-time actiony game.
>>
>>12271014
it's somewhat more adventure oriented like zelda.
>>
>>12271184
you shouldn’t feel stupid, your question still makes sense if read a certain way. i was just pointing out it came out first. i wasn’t saying it like the question about other diablo clones is illogical. you may have used ‘diablo clones’ as a speedy way to talk about similar games. they came out in the same year. blood omen was probably a month earlier that year in november. i don’t think they’re that similar but the question generally still makes sense so it’s fine. wasn’t trying to get ya with that fact. i should have added a little flavor there with my sentence to make that cleat but for some reason it seemed fine. i must have forgot where i was for a moment

I wrote a big ass reply then accidentally closed the tab.
The short version of it is play Landstalker on Genesis. Blood Omen is more like Landstalker than it is like Zelda. Though I think Blood Omen controls better than Landstalker AND Zelda.

IMO Blood Omen and Diablo would go on to influence Demon/Dark Souls, but you won't ever hear any from softie ever admit that.

Great thread OP.
I posted Kain in the “characters who’s franchises are dead” thread

The only thing those games have in common is the medieval setting and absolutely nothing else.
