I've said it before but it's genuinely sad to think that there are kids who only grew up with a playstation 1. It's even more sad to see adults try to compare 7/10 games to perfect 10/10 games in 2025.

>>12268390You know that's true. If you aren't taking advantage of glitches there's a lot of commitment to the platforming in Super Mario 64. If they had gone harder on the platforming challenges in SM64 it could've changed 3d platformers for the better. It's really satisfying to get Mario to move around while in these other 3D platformers theses "collectathon" games it's more like a means to an end to solve a puzzle that has very little to do with jumping around in what's basically an obstacle course.
I mean honestly the double jump is the worst thing to happen in 3D platformers I mean it's awful it ruins the whole thing. The damage these collectathon games have done is basically irreparable.

I had both consoles growing up but I had the basic sense and taste to leave the ps1 for rpgs and survival horror. crash, spyro, lara, croc are all fucking garbage even for the time. banjo isnt as good as mario 64 but clears every ps1 platformer by a huge margin. I feel bad for the ps1 only poors who gaslit themselves into thinking this scrimblo shovelware was actually good.
I really like Spyro but come on man this isn't up for debate at all Banjo shits on it any day of the week.
