For me, PERSONALLY, the PS2 was a let-down after I bought it on launch day. I had good times with it over the years but I never felt the magic from it I got from the original PlayStation. FYI I also bought a Dreamcast at launch.

for me it was GT3 (Gran Turismo Three).Now there was a marquee title that ushered in a new epoch in gaming.You just had to be there.

Plus it actually had a lot of gameplay and the level design was great for a realistic setting.Also the only non-stealth game to ever pull a stealth mission and make it work.
i do agree that ps1 games are more unique/fun/interesting than ps2 games, but considering that the ps2 is physically backwards compatible with ps1 games it's kind of a moot point
