I just got a GB Operator for Christmas, a device that connects to a software called Epilogue Playback that dumps GB/GBA cartridges, run them with what appears to be a customized mGBA core, and saves directly to the cart. What surprised me after testing it is the input lag: mGBA has always given me 1–2 frames of delay, making games unplayable. Being used to real hardware, It's simply impossible for me to control something like Mario's jump with such a delay. But the emulator inside this device has zero noticeable lag and feels identical to a real GBA. I reinstalled mGBA and, yep, the delay is still there. How did they remove the lag? How can I configure mGBA to do the same? No matter how low I set the audio buffer, audio sync on, FPS set to native target... what the fuck I'm missing?
>>12269471fwiw I've had particular trouble with mgba compared other gba emulators, micro stutter. forced to sacrifice its feature set because the performance was noticeably worse than even old visualboyadvance.
>>12269471have you tried gpsp
>>12269471Changing the "Display Driver" video setting from OpenGL to Software (Qt) fixed the input lag for me.
>>12269471>1–2 frames of delay, making games unplayableHow are you measuring this? If it's just by feeling then you are simply full of shit. 2 frames has never made anything unplayable and a real GBA has more lag than that on it's original screen.
>1 frame of delay is unplayable!!no its not you fucking retard.
>>12269471Just use Retroarch with runahead? Also anything below 4 frames lag is fine. I'm saying this as a shmup player. Battle Garegga has 4 frames on PCB and it's the greatest game ever made.
>>12269597Just tried, didn't fix it.>>12269618> If it's just by feeling then you are simply full of shit.>>12269620>1 frame of delay is unplayable!!Do you even understand English? Don't you understand what the word “additional” means? Up to 2 frames of latency on top of the game's own latency on a real hardware screen. Which means that when I press a key, Mario takes up to 64ms to jump. Damn, asking something on this board and expecting answers is useless, it's full of retards who barely know how to speak.>>12269669>Just use Retroarch with runahead?I guess. But my question was about trying to fix it in standalone mGBA. I guess it's not possible.
>>12269703>when I press a key, Mario takes up to 64ms to jumpMaybe you just need to get good and press the button 64ms in advance?
>>12269703So you aren't measuring it. Full of shit
>>12269471so all this does is load a rom in an emulator?retards will buy anything
>>12269471Fuck mgba and visualboy advanceJust use mesen since it's the only one that fucking works
>>12269471No. Fuck offWhy is anyone replying to this autistic? There isn't that much delay on the emulator unless he is retarded and somehow has everything set wrong everywhere. Real GBA hardware has more button to action delay than even 10 year old Android emulation.
not retro take it to emugen
>>12269703is it open source? recompile it with the changes you want.
>>12269471>after testing it is the input lagsauce?
>>12269471sorry your parents didn't love you enough to get you an actual GBA Player for your Gamecube nona
>>12269471>given me 1–2 frames of delay, making games unplayablegod it feels good to not be this autistic
>>12269471Boomers get shmup clears everyday on big old hdtvs and ps3 joysticks and you think mario is impossible because of mgba settings lol
>>12269471It's most likely using runahead and your standalone mGBA is not.
wait so this is a device that you plug carts into to play them on an emulator?why?
>>12272586guarantee OP has no problem watching youtube videos that violate copyright.
>>12272586Because the devs couldn't figure out how to write an SD card reader.
>>12269471It doesn’t FUCKING matter you revolting NERD.
