Is Final Fantasy 8 worth playing after 7 or I should skip it and play 9?

I don't believe that FF8 is a real game. I have clear memories of playing FF7 and FF9, but I have absolutely no recollection of every playing FF8 despite owning the game and having a maxed out save file for it.
I had more fun with 8 than 9. 9 felt very dishonest, especially with the "for le classic fans" angle and then it turned out to be DBZ+Wizard of Oz.

HP, Vitality, and Status-Defs allow you to junction more defensively. If you let them learn stuff automatically it takes a long time to get the good ones. The enemies level up with you (I'm sure you know) and there are large difficulty spikes at lvl 20 and 30 where normal mob enemies get much stronger. That could also be a factor.
8 is my personal favourite but all of them are worth playing

When you play it "normally" the battle system is actually fun compared to most similar JRPGs. You can ignore the story and just vibe out to the locations and music.If you're just trying to clear the game as quickly as possible so you can "judge" it then you're gonna have a bad time.

Zidane is the worst goddamn thief in vidya history, not to mention how SLOOOOW it plays for no real reason unless it was a compromise for the game's better graphics compared with VII/VIII. Also, your party formation is compromised by story reasons one too many times. Steiner and Dagger go one way, Zidane another, Vivi yet another... it feels like you're not free to just explore and play with your preferred characters until more than halfway through.
