So far, the forest dungeon feels like the worst design, with a softlock that force a reset. The fire dungeon is too linear, while the water dungeon is abstract but still enjoyable. The top three dungeons are the Deku Tree, Spirit Dungeon, and Shadow Dungeon. The game itself isn’t that great, yet it established the “3D Zelda formula,” which I thought was bad from the start when I first tried Twilight Princess. Some zelda zealots claim Majora’s Mask is better, though I haven’t played it, despite growing up with the N64, GameCube, and Xbox. Back then, there was a debate among kids over which was the greatest game between Ocarina of Time and Final Fantasy VII, while older faggots swore by Shenmue, a game that felt boring to any kid.
What’s your opinion on Ocarina of Time?

ONLY problem I have with it is that they should have allow the player to ride Epona as Young Link, cuz Hyrule Field is a pain to travel without her.
I also consider the game to be among the best games ever so take that as you wish.

>ONLY problem I have with it is that they should have allow the player to ride Epona as Young Link, cuz Hyrule Field is a pain to travel without her.
I agree, but as Young Link, Hyrule Field isn’t the main hub--it’s Lost Woods--so it’s not that bad.
>I also consider the game to be among the best games ever so take that as you wish.
I'm not entirely sure about that. It's a good game, but not among the greatest. I might try playing different things to strengthen my opinion, especially since I'm a shooter head.

Softlock? How did you manage to do that?
>>
>>12271409
I loved it when it came out and for a brief bit replayed it yearly. I took a 20 year break and replayed it in 2025. I think it held up amazing. It's got an incredible pace with very few poor dungeons. I think the game drags a little bit at the end if you do _everything_ but it was also release back in 1998 when no one had anything to do and you'd just be stuck with this 1 game all year.

Based blatant troll

There's no softlock in the Forest Temple. You simply missed a key.

Remember that twisted hallway where you shot the silver-eyed switch to straighten it? You’ll need to reset the game, or you won’t be able to reach the third ghost.

I wasn’t much of a Zelda fan, but I got Ocarina of Time because of the hype. I really got into shooters with Starfox 64 and GoldenEye. During Christmas 2001, I asked for Perfect Dark and Jet Force Gemini. I couldn’t care less about Wind Waker or the GameCube, but after my parents divorced, I ended up with both a GameCube and an Xbox {My dad gave me the Xbox and my mum gave me the NGC.}. I played way more on the Xbox since it felt like the “spiritual” N64 successor for shooters. That’s why I skipped Majora’s Mask and Wind Waker; my GameCube was basically my F-Zero GX machine. And, just like with Ocarina of Time, I got Twilight Princess because of the hype and its more “adult” art style, at least compared to Wind Waker.

I didn't mention keys, Anon. Don't put words in my mouth.

Why did you like The Deku Tree so much?
>>
>>12271562
>Why did you like The Deku Tree so much?
It shows how you can interact with the game’s logic and physics: you need to fall from high ground to break a spiderweb, burn another spiderweb with a deku stick, pull a block to progress and back tracking; there’s a strange wall you might revisit once you figure out how to open it, a la Metroid.
It’s a well-designed tutorial and serves as the foundation for Zelda as a 3D game. If the Inside Lord Jabu Jabu dungeon had been the first one, it might have ruined the initial impression.

No one asked for your retarded faggot opinion. Quit shitting up the board with your worthless faggot blog posts, you fucking stupid inbred retard.

You sound like an absolute faggot.

You might be right, a Sega System thread died so I could share my thoughts on OoT after finishing it almost 20 years since the last time I beat it. I apologize for that and feel I should post a high-quality thread to redeem myself. I’m unsure whether to write about “Atari apps,” "sega system created by Stolar," a console war thread about the 6th gen, or yet another “this game could have saved Saturn” thread.

>softlock
Anyone that complains about dumb garbage like this has never actually played video games in a genuine human a capacity, they've only looked up guides and complaint forums to overblow their perceived "problems" to obnoxiously ignorant degrees.

I've been playing games religiously for over 40 years and the number of commonly encounterable "softlacks" in popular games that a normal child not doing retarded aspergers transgender speedrunner dipshittery is likely to find can be counted on one hand.

It takes a faggot to recognize another faggot, isn't?

My only issues with Ocarina are the facts that it's extremely easy and you can't skip the cutscenes. Even playing with 3 hearts and 1 bottle, anyone who has played through more than once will have nothing to worry about. A proper new game+ that fixed these issues would've been great for the game. They dropped the ball extremely hard with Master Quest which in some cases was easier than vanilla and you still couldn't skip any dialogue/cutscenes. I enjoy OoT randomizers.

There is no Forest Temple softlock. Shoot the eye switch again to toggle the twisting hall. Honestly did you even do a 5 second google search before making that claim?

>Anyone that complains about dumb garbage like this has never actually played video games in a genuine human a capacity
I didn’t. I spent an hour exploring before resetting it because I couldn’t figure out how to straighten that path since that silver-eyed switch kept shut. I played without any guides and ended up spending almost two hours fishing for that scale. It took me 47 hours to 100% it without any help.
>over 40 years
You're almost 50 years old, yet you still keep making assumptions and projecting yourself.
You said it wasn’t possible to softlock the forest dungeon and assumed I was talking about a key. I bet you’re projecting, probably missing that key at the very start, which is easy to do since the noise of a Skulltula practically invites exploring the high ground.
>retarded aspergers transgender
Watch out for those projections, old man. No one is mentioning degenerates, yet they seem to occupy your thoughts completely. I hope you find peace.

>angry seething trannoid speedrunner
Yeah, just not interested in the fact you can't enjoy video games and it makes you pound the table in rage and try to take it out on other people who do. Nobody needs a retarded "review" from some underage dumbshit.

>Remember that twisted hallway where you shot the silver-eyed switch to straighten it? You’ll need to reset the game, or you won’t be able to reach the third ghost.
You can just shoot the eye again to re-twist the hallway, retard.
>>
>>12271592
>Shoot the eye switch again to toggle the twisting hall
WHAT?! KEK, I didn't! I ended up spending a lot of time wandering around. I wish I had known that.
>A proper new game+ that fixed these issues would've been great for the game. They dropped the ball extremely hard with Master Quest which in some cases was easier than vanilla and you still couldn't skip any dialogue/cutscenes.
I was about to mention Master’s Quest; I didn’t know it was easier for anyone who had mastered OoT. What do you think of MM? I’m about to play it for the first time.
>>
>>12271597
>Yeah, just not interested in the fact you can't enjoy video games
I do enjoy games, that's why I play them and discuss them here.
>Nobody needs a retarded "review" from some underage dumbshit.
Did I write a review? Wait, do you think my post even counts as a review?
>from some underage dumbshit
Just because you're older doesn't mean I'm a underage.
>>
>>12271601
Tbf isn't that the only eye you can do that with in the entire game? Or maybe there were 2 in the Forest Temple, there was that frozen one in the room with spinning platforms.
>>
>>12271409
It's not a game I'd ever want to replay again, I got my fill of it decades ago.
>>
>>12271721
Randomizers are fun.
>>
>>12271730
You don't understand, I don't want to play the game. The progression does not matter.
>>
>>12271719
I think I did the same "mistake" as that guy did, and tried to hit the eye again only because it was a last resort, otherwise I would have quit playing.
Besides that AFAIK the eye "puzzles" don't need to be toggled on/off. And it doesn't really make sense to reopen them by shooting.
Some other type of switch there would've been better, but that's nitpicking for fringe cases.

Ocarina and ff7 are the 2 greatest games of the 90s and that comparison still holds true. I think ff7 is better even though I first got ocarina for Christmas (actually early) 98 and ff7 Christmas 2000 with the new cheap psone.

Majora is a better Zelda game but much more complex and bizarre, but in a good way especially if you’re already familiar to Zelda 1, Link to the past and OOT.

At times OOT just feels like a remake of link to the past, with light/dark worlds replaced by time travel. The music and story/cinematics of ocarina are really great though. I liked the music so much as a little boy I had my dad track down a cd soundtrack of it which wasn’t super easy to do in 1999.

On its own Zelda 64 / OOT is one of the all time classic games of any genre and the best standalone example of a Zelda game.
