The retro era really ended with the mid 90s. Beyond simple arguments about 2D vs 3D, the vibe just changed. Everything became more focused on normalfag interests as opposed to nerds
Well yeah. Because in that time normies weren't the target demo
>>12271458Why are they so red???Anyway, once the games could become more realistic and impressive, they drew in normies. Halo, GTA and Madden sold gazillions and defined the direction of Western video games for more than 2 decades. This was the beginning of the end for platformers, JRPGs, and experimental games, because your average dudebro thought they were gay games for babies
the retro era ended when I stopped being a kid
>>12271564>Why are they so red???steroid abuse
>>12271458>>12271564Where's my fucking lunch money?
>blah blah blah normalfags>blah blah blah soulless>blah blah blah zoomersEveryone on this board has the intellect of a brain-damaged 15 year old that repeat the same thing every single day. More and more I'm just eye-rolling and hiding/R'ing threads.
>>12271564jarpigs are gay so they're right about that
>>12271828Well you're gay and retarded
>>12273025So?
>>12271458Most experts in decadeology agree with the analysis that the 90's are one of the decades in which there's a bigger cultural gap between beginning and end of decade. In the 90's we find:Went from aesthetics which were pretty much upgraded 80's to a futurism which was already thirsting for Y2KFrom the golden age of Disney's hand drawn animation to 3D animation like Toy Story and Reboot. From floppy disks to CDFrom cartridge to CDFrom MS-DOS to Win95At some point you would exprience internet for the first time (whether at school, a cybercafe, at a friend's house or at your own)
>>12274278It went from soul to soulless, y2k was over corporatism and consumerism way more than the 80s ever was and we never left and in fact sunk deeper. Today "alternative music" is Billie Eilish, boy bands but they're chinks, and joggers rapping about nikes and pills still but they dyed they're cheetos red so that means it's somehow anti mainstream
This isn't even true. The lead platform of the mid 90's was the PSX, and the PSX was successfull precisely because in its couple first years it specifically targetted teenage and young adult hardcore gamers: the ones that bought a lot of games full price at release. It was only once this audiance was established that they started looking for a wider audiance in the late 90's.
>>12275480>. Today "alternative music" is Billie Eilish, boy bands but they're chinks, and joggers rapping about nikes and pills still but they dyed they're cheetos red so that means it's somehow anti mainstreamJust goes to show that you bitter oldniggers don't even pretend to engage with the things you supposedly care about.
>>12275502I still listen to actual alternate music, and it's nothing you know because it isn't popular. It's all white music out of Europe that has never been published in a magazine or on a website that isn't dedicated to the subcultures, not fucking rym or whatever the fuck. You rely entirely on the mainstream hype for knowledge, I don't. I discover new bands with 100 views, you get fed industry plant psyops
>>12275491Psx was split, it was the beginning of the end but not the end. MK existed alongside Tony Hawk, CoD existed alongside Twisted Metal etc, it started the trend of boring shit but gaming wasn't defined by it yet.
>>12271458You know what? You're right. What we consider "retro" ended in 1995.
