Remember that Shinji Mikami originally wanted the STARS to be fucking robots.Many such cases where the director takes credit over everyone else involved.On the other hand though, Nomura is the one to credit. Even though I think he's only listed as Executive Producer, he came up with the story of kingdom hearts, he made the concept for sora and helped work on the battle system for the 1st game which shaped the rest of the series.

Nomura pretty much wrote FF7 alongside Nojima but he never gets credited for it. Sakaguchi and Kitase just slapped their names on it. While toriyama adds cringe events. Kitase and toriyama worked alone on FF13 what did they made? Meanwhile the 3rd biggest Square IP is now Kingdom Hearts entirely the work of Nomura. And you’re lying to yourself if you say it’s successful because of Disney.
