How could you redeem the 32X?
With a voucher, I guess.
By scrapping it entirely. There is virtually zero situation where the 32X is a good idea.
there's literally nothing wrong with the 32x, it's the epitome of the 16-bit era, its own flaw is that the psx released 1 month later
make the sega activator a mandatory controller
>>12274628You can't it is complete utter retardation, I don't whats dumber the 32X or PC-FX.
>>12274628I'd ditch the Saturn and make the 32x/Neptune be SEGA's PS1 and N64 competitor, it'd have a better chance than the Saturn by being cheaper, and backwards compatible with the Genesis' library and accessories, making it the best budget option of the whole generation, add a decent 3D Sonic there and you'd see SEGA consoles hanging around even today too.
>>12274628>How could you redeem the 32X?By choosing to release either the 32X or the Saturn. Can't release both.
Μake it portable and give it more games. It's already actually pretty good with Knuckles Chaotix, Star Wars Arcade, Kolibri, and Virtua Fighter. Just annoying you need a Mega Drive/Genesis.
>>12274628No way of redemption but gotta say it had the best version of Virtua Fighter for the longest time, same goes for Virtua Racing, it could have even better games but why in the fuck developers would support it when the PS and the Saturn where around the corner (in Japan it released after the Saturn and the same day as the PS), why they even made the fucking thing is one of vidya biggest mysteries.>>12274661>In Japan it released the same day as the PSWTF was wrong with Sega?
MKII on 32x is the only game worth playing as it's the closest arcade perfect console port. There's even a mod that makes it even more arcade perfect.
Stronker CD furst check stronker cartridge chech, 2 stronker handheld double check now her comes..
>>12274628Imagine SEGA trying to make a game for this piece of shit circa 1996-1998>Weakest 3D & 2D capabilities>Shittiest sound quality>The most limited storage space, yes it cannot even attain the N64 64MB with bank switching
>>12274713As I understand it, basically there was a very brief period where the Genesis was already stagnating and slowing down even in the markets where it was strongest, the Saturn was not yet ready, and systems like the Jaguar were around the corner and making the Genesis look positively outdated. Sega pretty much panicked and decided they needed something on the market and they needed it NOW.
>>12274721>The most limited storage spaceJust buy both the SEGA CD and 32X to have CD storage and 32X processing, anon ;)
>>12274710They wouldn't have had the means to make a portable 32X at the time, especially since the hardware itself works in addition to the SEGA Genesis / Mega Drive, so a handheld would have to incorporate all of that. The closest thing is the SEGA Nomad, and that thing was really bulky, used an external battery pack, and didn't have a great display.
>>12274742>You need to own the base Mega Drive, MEGA CD and then 32x.So much for being cheap.
if it had launched with a real sonic game it would've won the console wars
>>12274746Not to mention unwieldy, and very difficult to develop games that make proper use of all that hardware. The only game that actually manages to make full use of both the Sega CD and the 32X is the recent homebrew version of Doom 32X.
>>12274758>Sonic>Sonic 2>Sonic CD>Sonic 3>Sonic & Knuckles>Sonic 32XDo you really believe people would go crazy for a 6th Sonic game on the same console? If anything, it could make things even worse due to burnout.
>>12274628Make it a simpler graphics chip and have it be part of the Sega CD's internals. The only reason the Sega CD didn't have a ton of JRPGs is because the color output sucked. The Genesis only needed to be brought up to SNES level, it didn't need 32-bit or 3D graphics.
>>12274705This is from the "Sega failed before even the Dreamcast" timeline
>>12274628it's a retarded idea that could never possibly work. if you're a poorfag then it makes no sense as a purchase unless you already own a genesis, but the cartridges being even more expensive than genesis carts makes it a bad deal. if you're not a poorfag and you want new console for christmas you'd go for an actual new console instead of a tumor attached to a console you already own. >>12274793i can't believe they went for a fucking scaling gimmick over fixing the shitty colors. sega was extremely incompetent
By playing it
Sirs do not redeem!
>>12274793>The only reason the Sega CD didn't have a ton of JRPGs is because the color output suckedIt was because the Genesis was much bigger in the West than it was in Japan, and JRPGs were not mainstream in the West.
>>12274793What high-color capabilities do JRPGs really need? Nips were fine playing monochrome Wizardry and Ultima for nearly a decade before the SNES was a thing.
>>12274628by supporting it longer than six months and not releasing a new console immediately after
>>12274847Saturn (in Japan) came out the DAY AFTER the 32X launched (in America).Still hilarious
>>12274641spbp
>scrap 32X>make Saturn backwards compatible with the Genesis and Sega CD>SoA can keep pushing Genesis shit through mid-90s>The Saturn can become the all-in one "Sega System" as our Aussie friend saysGetting rid of the 32X was literally the answer to every single one of Sega's problems in the late 1990s.
>>12274628I kill whoever came up with it
>>12274956>literally the answer to every single one of Sega's problems in the late 1990s.Not really.People overthink way too much about what went wrong with the SEGA Saturn. The issue was not complicated; the console was more expensive and yet worse than the Playstation. You didn't need a master plan to win the generation, you just needed a more competitive hardware.
>>12274628By removing the 32X from existence and telling SEGA to go with their SVP plans instead.>buy $50 lock-on cart with the SVP already inside>SVP games can then be manufactured without the chip, lowering the price to $40 ($20 less than FX games in the SNES)>Genesis is kept alive like SOA wanted with Virtua Fighting, Star Wars and Daytona USA>the rest of Sega's time and effort is than spent on the Saturn, giving SOJ what they wantThe SVP route would have been much less offensive to customers than trying to sell yet another Genesis add-on for $160 when everyone already knew the Saturn was coming. SEGA did what SEGA does best and made the worst possible decision.
>>12274956> make Saturn backwards compatible with the GenesisMake it even more expensive by grafting on an entire genesis and sega cd. The Saturn was already complicated enough. Grafting on two whole additional consoles would be utterly absurd. Backwards compatibility only makes sense it it can reasonably be achieved.
