wtf was his problem?
I never understood why villains tend to explain their plans to the protagonist. If I were a villain I wouldn't do that.
>>12275459>I've done it, I've finally eradicated all living things outside of my fortress!>*dies from oxygen deprivation*
>>12275613Because a narrative that doesn't explain its components isn't very good. Remember, a villain isn't a person, it's a storytelling device.
>>12275459>all lifeDoes that include microbes? That'd be kind of freaky, everything would die but nothing would rot since there'd be nothing to break it down. Hope he kept a lot of cattle and seeds in his fortress. Then again seeds probably wouldn't grow in dead soil...
>>12275613They are narcissists, being seen and their scheme recognized as genius is literally the only reason they do it, same reason why school shooters post pics of themselves with guns on social media and leave behind wanky manifestos
>>12275459billions must die
>haha we're going to kill everyone>OH GOD OUR LEADER IS DEAD EVERYONE KILL YOURSELVESwhy are they like this?
>>12276650The sweet release of death.
>>12275613It happens in real life too, see tech bros
>>12276650At that point in the game they took all your gear while you were in jail and all you have is an axe you looted off the guard you killed with your bare hands. You're quite literally a naked axe-wielding barbarian raiding their castle while hopped up on healing herbs one-shotting people left and right.Blowing up the fortress is the correct choice.
>>12275613You're not smarter than the fiction. You're an autistic retard who can't understand something so simple it shouldn't need to be explained. What honestly has to go wrong in your life and upbringing that look at a fictional story and go >Well in real lifeIt's not real life. And good villains are filled with flaws and theatrics for the sake of entertainment and to help the audience understand the bigger plot. You're an idiot.
>>12276703Did I touch a nerve? Do you happen to be a villain?
>make game like real life>nobody ever conveys their intentions>climatic encounter with the villain is just a bunch of shouting "fuck you!" and "I'll fucking kill you!">game ends>you're not really sure what happened or what you were fighting for
>>12276706He's the villain in your story, explaining how you are a retard.
>>12275459>what was his problemidk but it sounds like he found the solution, good for him
>>12275459How do they know that the Spell of Death will kill everything? Presumably they haven't cast it before or else everything would be dead.
If you cast the spell of death outside of the fortress, does that mean only people inside the fortress would die?
>>12276824
>>12275613To give the hero time>Ahh, Mr. Bond, welcome. As you can see there is no escape from my trap. So I will now first of all do what every good villain does and tell you the whole story of my life. *hero has time to figure out the weak point of the death trap he's in*And now that I have you where I want and since there is NO escape I must now leave you to die completely unsupervised. Goodbye my friend!
>>12276505Say that to my ex wife
>>12276824He's the hero in my story though
>>12276505A narrative where that would even need to be explained at this point isn't very good. Like, if it's not already known what the villain is planning to do, what's the protagonist even doing in the fortress?
>>12276675Go back to plebbit
>>12278363>No dude we must worship the ground Sam Altman walks on because uhhh we must do even though he's like a cartoon villain!
>>12278356Many game stories have you seeking out a villain doing nefarious acts or in revenge for some initial impetus without fully understanding the ultimate goal of the villain or even who they really are. Extremely common even. I'm surprised you are confused by this.
just imagine how much experience points he would get
>>12275459The game is Legend of Black Silver, in case anyone is wondering.
>>12279148I've heard rumors that it's connected to Legacy of the Ancients. Is it true?
>>12279148Wrong.
>>12279167No, I'm not.
>>12279189Except you are. There aren't that many true RPGs on the C64, you should be able to identify them if you call yourself a retro gaming enthusiast.
>>12279148>>12279189it's legacy of the ancients anon, they use the same engine
>>12279189>confidently wrong Did you learn that from the AI that misidentified the game for you? Dumb goyishe kopf.
>>12279469They use the same engine you dumb nigger brained man-monkey.
>>12276505Have a flashback, or have the villain explain his plan to an underling, or have the protagonist find the villain's blueprints, or something. Having the villain explain his plan to the protagonist is lazy writing.
>>12276675I wonder what classes will be in the party that forms to fight the manifested AI god-being the tech bros are trying to summon?
>>12279596Not if they want to rub it in the heroes face and goad them into trying to take a swing at them, just so they can slap their bitch ass back down.
>>12279596the op is a motherfucking commodore 64 game, you're lucky it even has writing and doesn't just reference you a page number in the instruction manual where the dialogue was physically printed out
>>12279828Which explains why the writing is simplistic. But that's not what the post I was replying to said:>>12276505
>>12279828>reference you a page number in the instruction manual where the dialogue was physically printed outthat was half the soul of the forgotten realms games
>>12279596>lazy writingNonsensical statement. I could do that too.Flashbacks are gay.Scenes the protagonist can't see directly are gay. This is a video game, it should be from the perspective of the main character and not have "meanwhile" scenes.
to be fair the warlord had to be overtly evil otherwise the player might suspect that the caretaker was gaslighting them the entire game and the ancients were the real bad guys all along
>>12276505Just stopping by to thank you for what you do.Across fourchan, this is way of thinking is rare.
>>12276675>tHiS iS jUsT lIkE eMpErOr pAlPaTiNe!!!
