Kid Icarus fucking sucks.
>>12275514For some reason Nintendo thought people would like going up as much as they liked going left and right.
Making my own maps from screenshots was the most fun part of playing the game
I like it.
>>12275546>>12275549>>12275550No sane kid would draw a map to navigate a game that isn’t that fun to begin with. Making a game that forced you to own a strategy guide just to beat it should have been illegal back then.
>>12275514I played most of the NES canon in their heyday and enjoyed them for the most part. I didn't play Kid Icarus until years later when I got into collecting. And I thought it completely sucked. It forced me to reevaluate my tastes.
>>12275514Clue: skill issues sucks
We didn’t have a huge selection in those early days and the thirst for something play was real. I didn’t know anyone who owned this game but I rented it and I am sure others did. Keep in mind that back then we only owned about 10% of the games we played. The rest were rented over the weekend with VHS tapes. Or borrowed from friends.
I was thinking about playing this today. Anything I should know? Or should I play a different NES game.
>>12276169You should play Yo Noid! Instead
>>12276171>>12276171Shit, I forgot the pic!
>>12276171>>12276178Ha, I already beat it back in September. It's not as bad as people say although I almost got fucked on the final "boss". I haven't even beaten that many NES games really, Kid Icarus is on the top of my to-play list.
>>12275568What Kid Icarus strategy guide?
>>12276248Have you played Willow or Robin Hood: Prince if Thieve, yet?
>>12276270Nope. I know Willow is a Capcom cult classic but that's all I've heard. Haven't heard much about Robin Hood but I'll grab both.
>>12276279Robin Hood is your standard Virgin Interactive game. Nice graphics and sound but the controls need more polish. But Virgin titles are always worth playing for the eye candy. Willow is a very well made Zelda clone with really nice graphics and sound.
>>12275568Drawing a map with graph paper was pretty normal for dungeon crawlers. Was also super helpful with the original Metroid, people were able to figure things out before the internet. And if not, there was always NP. Being stupid was more expensive, so a lot of people just got gud.
>>12275514You don't know how to play it. Only the first stage is challenging.
>>12275568>forced you to own a strategy guideYou mean the manual? Maybe your mom can read it to you.
