This game fuckin is fun
>>12275580There's a Doom total conversion mod of this game.
>>12275614back to your containment thread
>>12275614>Doom Splatterhouse modI unbind the key to kick because I don't want to see a gross obese man's bare foot. Utterly disgusting.Outstanding mod otherwise.
>>12275580So what's the best version of this? The arcade?
>>12276137Uh yeah? ...When is that not the case?
>>12276141I liked Turtles in Time on SNES more
>>12276175It's a demake of the arcade>B-But muh extra lev-No. It's just filler and not the way it was intended to be played.
>>12276268You're trying too hard.
>>12276397>he thinks the watered-down demake is an acceptable substitute for the arcadeOHNONONO BWAHAHAHA
>>12275580Yeah its one of the best games for the system although it never got much more than 100 games in the US iirc.
>>12276268I don't really care about the music and graphics or whatever the like, i just prefer how the game actually plays over the arcade version, especially the feedback you get when you hit shit. and also you can be more consistent with your actions, namely throws
>>12276137I like to try playing them all when there are several versions. Seeing what each format keeps and changes is pretty interesting.
I didn't like Castlevania on nes because you die over and over again until you figure out how to get through each challenge efficiently. It's just not my kind of game. Could splatterhouse be for me?
>>12276654Splatterhouse is just a much simpler game in general
>>12275580I could never get past Stage V.
>>12276654Splatterhouse is a bit similar to that. It's shorter, simpler, and yet probably more difficult to do a hitless playthrough. It also has a permanent game over. Still, I had about 2 failed playthroughs before I beat it on my third. I looked up boss strats for the final two bosses too so I wouldn't have to replay. There's also a level select code.>>12276768That's the most difficult stage in the game, but you get the hang of it once you run through a few times. Pick the routes that you find the easiest.
>>12275580>cheeky baitSeriously tough, why is this guy yet another fucking lazycunt who didnt finished this? https://monsterbathchris.itch.io/mega-splatterhouse-demoThe original demo only took him a few months to make, then for an entire year, NADA! he should have it done and finished by Halloween, but nope! yet another guy who decided to fuckbandon a project and start another one he will abaondon soon (a Robocop port)https://x.com/realMonsterBath
I think splatterhouse rocks, but nowadays i find the games to be more of a style over substance experience.
>>12276137WHEN WAS THIS NEVER NOT THE CASE
>>12276141Lots of games had better balanced gameplay on the home console port because they weren't designed to eat quarters.
>>12277631Atomic Runner/Chelnov
>>12277650>muh quarter munchingget good or stop being poor
>>12277795>get good at worse gameplayi'd rather have fun. enabling freeplay or infinite coins tends to highlight how terribly designed a lot of arcade games actually are outside of the stuff made to attract onlookers
>>12277819I've been practicing Simpsons arcade lately and i noticed how a lot of bosses and some enemies have these obnoxiously random i-frame or frame 1 attacks. i learned that the meta-game is just constantly having to wait for them to get on your horizontal plane if you want to attack safely. it's really shitty
>>12276141NES Contra, Bionic Commando, and Rygar are way better than the arcade versions.
>>12278297>contra>bionic commandoi always forget they were originally arcade games
>>12275580It was the game that inspired an old friend to briefly hold the arcade's world record. It is a reason the system was so loved even back then.
>>12277828Konami's beatemups weren't as refined as the Capcom ones, mostly because of the weird "blinking time / i-framesx when you hit enemies, making them not possible to stun locked them, in ff1 you can easily stun lock enemies and most bosses except for Sodom because of his weird pattern states.
>>12275580Well you know something, YOU'RE fuckin is fun
>>12276137>>12275580Splatterhouse 3 is the best game.
well /vr/ would you?
>>12277225Splatterhouse was always style over substance, but it had some goddamn fucking style. Just really fun to play.
>>12278297NES Contra is a watered down demake of the arcade original. Arcade BC and Rygar are completely different games than the NES games with the same names and it's retarded to compare them. It's like comparing the arcade games Bucky o Hare or Willow or Batman Forever to the console games with the same names.
>>12275580bampilstiltskin
>>12282001Typical Saturday for some of us married men.
>>12284119
>>12282049It's not much to look at, but when you're playing and you whack an enemy into the wall with a 2x4 -- that's a special feeling, every single time.
>>12284149That intro. Kind of spooky to seven year old me. I was lucky that my older Brother best friend loaned my bro the TG16 and games, for the weekend. Keith Courage and SplatterHouse. I'll never forget. I pretty much played those two the entire weekend.
bamp
How do Splatterhouse 2 and 3 compare to the original?
>>12275580Lol why did the american cover give him a hair transplant
>>12286447Soulless
>>12277758MD version has prettier graphics but it kills the identity of the game. Chelnov is supposed to be a survivor of Chernobyl who runs through nightmarish dungeons underneath New York, not whatever random mishmash of sceneries they did with the remake.
