It's not worth putting that much thought into it because it's probably just one of 3 situations
>he won the lottery
>he comes from a well off family thats willing to subsidize his lifestyle
>or the realistic scenario of them all: he has a job and is just lying because he doesnt want people to know where he works
because even with ad reads, sponsorships, and creator coupons which give a bit of cash back to creators, you probably aren't living a stable lifestyle at Jewy's size. And the odds of AYN/Retroid sending him thousands to give their device a positive review is non-existent, it'd be easier to send him a free device and have him reel in dupes with a coupon that offers a bit of kickback.

No chinkshit manufacturer will ever use stock resistive screens because no one ever mass produced them at suitably gaming resolutions besides Nintendo themselves.
The question should've been "will chinkhelds ever handle DS/3DS games" and the answer is no.
And I don't mean handling DS as "i'm running SMT4 at 120FPS with 8x scaling wdym poorfag hyuck hyuck", I mean it as try playing LostMagic on a capacitive screen and getting past half a dozen missions without throwing your shit at the wall

So bros, I bought the Ayn Thor. I went with the base model because realistically, I'm only going to emulate Wii U at the most, I don't see a need for PC or Switch when I've already got a PC and Switch 2. Should I have coughed up the extra $50 for the pro or will 8GB be enough for what I need?

Do some people actually compulsively buy every retro chink-model they can get while barely clocking in ~5 hour of gameplay and getting past the title screen on Pokemon or some shit? I only make mention of this observation because I'm being diligent/doing my research on replacing my broken chinkshit after hardcore playing romhacks and doing time trials and shit and I keep seeing recurring comments/posts of people buying 3 of these for muh nostalgia and showing some screencap of route 4 of Pokemon. Why would anyone need more than 1 gadget? And it's not even me being a coping poor I'm practically half-retired at this point.

You can realistically make an argument for having two or three if this is your hobby, especially if you sync saves between them. It's nice to have something small and cheap you can take with you, but also a fancy powerful one for using at home.

But yes, the people with a dozen or two of these are ill.

I love me a comfy chinkshit thread
>>
>>12276598
>Why would anyone need more than 1 gadget?
Because of the form factor or capabilities. I've already cleared at least three games on each of the systems I own and put a minimum of 100ish hours into each one.

I currently own
>RG35XX-H.
Bought this as my first one to dip my toes into it. It's primarily a PS1 machine but I'm considering NES on it.
>RG35XX-SP.
Bought this because SP nostalgia. I still occasionally use it for GBA stuff but not as much.
>RG34XX.
Bought this entirely because it was a 1:1 GBA and that's exactly what I wanted. I use it exclusively for GBA stuff and will not use it for anything else.

I just bought a TrimUI Brick Hammer a week or so back which will be exclusively for GB and GBC games, maybe NES and SNES.

Emulating on PC just sucks if it's not a home console, I really don't like how it looks or feels and having these handhelds feels so much better and feels way easier to commit to playing games on them by comparison since they're compact, you don't have a gigantic screen, and you're not constrained.
>>
>pocket air mini scheduled to arrive the day I go back to work after a FOUR (4) week vacation
Fuck indiegogo's bullshit process
>>
>why more than one gadget
Because I dropped my only chinkheld a total of 20cm onto a semi-soft surface and screen got fucked because like all chinkhelds it was made as cheaply as possible and couldn't even survive a minor bump. You need redundancy when dealing with low quality.

Is there a way to move data between two android devices, for example cloning apps with configs between RP5 and RP6? I don't mean roms - the only thing keeping me from getting a better android device is the thought that I'll inevitably want to setup RetroArch with ES-DE and fuck me I probably spent more time setting it up than actually playing anything on the device.

Exactly. Why is this thing popular? Ugly. Heavy. Who wants to play single screen games on a dual screen? Okay you can play DS and 3DS. Who cares? They are just two out of the 40 or so I want to emulate. The Thor has a niche I'm just surprised it got so popular.
>>
>>12277018
It's popular because DS and 3DS games and consoles are scalped to hell. A new 3DS costs like 200 bucks in good condition and that's for a japanese version. Most games are in the 50-150 dollars range.
It's retarded and emulation on one screen always felt lacking.

Alright you autistic fucks. Help a brother out.
I want something that'll play up to and including 5th Gen (practically) flawlessly. I missed out on SNES/PS1 when I was growing up so those are key consoles I'm trying to get into, especially stuff like King's Field, Mother/Earthbound, FF Tactics, Castlevania,Silent Hill, Metroid, Chrono Trigger etc.
Anything PS2 and up I'll wait for the SteamCube and just emulate on that.
Preference is Linux cause I'm a cheapskate (but I'll accept dual-booting if the unit is good enough). Horizontal preferred too. Sub $100USD.
So far I've found;
>RG40XXH
>RG353M
>RG353P/PS
>Trimui Smart Pro S
>PowKiddy RGB10MAX3 Pro
Any experience with these? Any dogshit I have to avoid?
Ta' in advance. I hope I don't start a flamewar.

Why are you guys obsessed with the linux system?
For retro gaming, the latency is the same as android.
For modern stuff like switch, the emulators are not even good yet, so nothing would compare to original hardware for now.
Anbernic knows this, and decided to just make android systems from now on.

I recently set up RetroDeck on SteamDeck. Quite liking it. Fiddled around with EmuDeck before, but I found it to be really janky and unreliable at times, especially the Patreon-only cloud service.
I also really recommend RetroArch, I've been using it for years. One frontend for everything is absolutely worth it if you want to emulate lots of consoles regularly.

You're (hopefully) acting like a retard.
Unless you really do need to look down every time you press a button, it doesn't matter what symbol is printed on the buttons. You're the one mapping your controls. If the console you're emulating uses the Nintendo layout, put A on the right where it belongs.
How is this a real problem for people?
>>
>>12277236
It's an all rounder that does everything, if you don't mind the lag on 32/64 bit console emulators.
Great for brain rotting, but doesn't look too sturdy, the chipset is very well known, so compatibility won't be an issue with lots of emulators, and a linux os distro for it isn't too farfetched, but don't expect great improvement in performance anyway, I think it's cool, but I'd rather wait for a thor 2, with a better cpu, by then latency would have some improvements hopefully.

You're talking nonsense.
>My 1000 stopped reading UMDs out of nowhere for no reason and no matter what I used did not work.
>My 2000 literally had the power socket transfer electricity into the shell to the point that there are actual marks from where the electricity went into the plastic shell. It also will not charge unless the charger is at certain angles.
>A relative's 3000 stopped reading UMDs after about a year of owning it and now it clicks whenever you put a UMD in it.
>My OG 3DS stopped working after around two years for zero reason at all. It was never once dropped and I had to send it into Nintendo to get it fixed at which point it came back with juice in the internals and on the battery and they tried fighting me about it (I had never spilled anything on it, they sent me one with juice pre-dried on the thing so I knew it wasn't mine).
>My DS Phat and DS Lite both had the plastic around the hinges crumble off. I literally had the DS Lite's entire LED section pop off in my hands when I went to open my screen. My DS Phat also gained dead pixels after about three years of ownership.
>My childhood SP stopped charging after four or so years of owning it and when I recently went to try and fix it the diode near the port just fell off of it on top of the port being dead. Now I have an SP that is 100% dead and I have no idea how to fix it at all without taking it to a repair shop or investing hundreds into a proper soldering setup.
>Two separate SNESes I have owned since childhood that have only been used normally with no damage to them both stopped being able to be powered on at all.
>My original PS1 (The fat one) stopped reading discs after about two or three years of owning it. One day we powered it on and it stopped reading anything. Had to buy the PSOne which itself got disc read errors after a few years.

you don't need more than 1gb of ram for emulation on linux.
lagdroid drinks ram like lemonade.
>>
>>12278293
>Why are you guys obsessed with the linux system?
Because the emulators are objectively better due to being native nightlies and not random ports that typically have their own unique issues on top of not being updated like the nightlies at all, there is less overhead, there are far more things you can do with Linux customization-wise, you have better performance because it's not bogged down by Android, it's not forcing you into absolutely awful smartphone menus, etc.

Android is a last resort and genuinely awful for emulation, Linux is the best option but barely anyone uses it because it means having to put in effort into their OS instead of just half-assing a frontend and calling it a day.
>>
>>12278740

The only times I've ever had trouble with it were with some PS1 games where, after I had quit and loaded the auto-state-save they would freeze on the next loading screen (but you can reset the "console" like normal to fix it). That is a non-issue if you don't use "save-on-quit". I've played all of the games in your list and they all work perfectly. I'm using JELOS and the default emulators on retroarch.

Just got my DSi. Honestly it's a bit underwhelming. The D-pad is comically small (what were they thinking?) and while the games definitely look and play better than on 3DS, they still look pretty bad in comparison to emulation. The dimensions of the console are very similar to the RG-35XXH, but the latter is infinitely more comfortable to use.

This form factor is definitely superior to the larger models, though. The DSi is far more comfortable than my 3DSXL (which also has a comically small d-pad). The decision to make all the chink clones take after the XL models is quite odd.

anyone have some good hidden gems to play on a steam deck, not only games on steam because those are obvious, but games native to windows that you can install using various proton versions or wine or something (since emulating console games is pretty obvious but feel free to suggest some hidden gems that emulate well too)
for me i recently found the following, some from myabandonware.com, often the downloads called a "magipack repack" or just a standard download. none of these games are running using console emulators, just proton or wine. i will try to briefly tell the way i used to install the corresponding game
outrun 2006 coast to coast - myabandonware.com
need for speed underground 2 - myabandonware.com
diablo 2 ressurected - lutris
project diablo 2 - download from the website plus regular game files
diablo 1 "devilution" - cant remember probably same as 2
ambermoon - download of a rerelease from their website
blur - myabandonware.com
all kinds of doom 2 overhaul mods from modDB, like ashes 2063, venturous, aliens eradiction, total chaos, wolfenstein blade of agony
sonic robo blast 2 - directly from the discover store in steamOS
sonic robo blast 2 kart - same as above
megaman 8 bit deathmatch - this is the one game i think i didnt get working fully, i think i didnt configure the controls, maybe i couldnt or just didnt bother. cant remember where the download was
and as for a few actual steam games, fallout 1 and 2 were surprisingly easy to get looking good using the falloutHR.exe files it installs with instead of the default exe the install points to
and star wars x wing special edition
myabandonware seems like a great place to browse to find more games like this but theres a lot of rereleases of older games for modern windows versions that are just offered on their own random websites, like this one i havent tried yet https://www.codemonkey.me.uk/rollcage_redux.php
i have emulation station setup with 16000+ games but native windows games look and work better

Maybe you got a lemon? Mine doesn't get hot at all along the back. The L button is a complete mess though, doesn't always register unless you hit it closer to the ZL button.

The back gets mildly warm. The 3DS gets hotter.

Is there something like the RG35XX H but from this year?
>>

I've had it for over a year and it's just one of those things I cant remember it being that bad idk. maybe it was always like this just didnt care that much since it was new.

yeah see I have a old 3ds and that doesnt get that warm

Why does it have to be from this year? 35XX is still perfectly good

When emulators ask about internal resolution scaling, is the multiplier applied to both dimensions or is it the number of pixels?
i.e. is 2x scaling for PS1 games 1280x960 or (640x480)*2?

There’s a difference between a console made for a brand that is usually made with good quality components and has an extensive QA control vs chinkhandhelds made cheaply with whatever cheap parts they have on hand with almost zero QA.

Not exactly. People are still buying the R36Gs and those are years old at this point where the only real existing versions are now bootlegs of that system rather than the original.
Realistically you'd be better off with the RG40XX-H since it addressed issues the 35XX-H had ergonomically and control-wise.
>>
>>12280021
>RG40XX-H since it addressed issues the 35XX-H had ergonomically and control-wise.
What about the d-pad issues? Have they fixed/changed the contacts?
>>
>>12280031
What d-pad issue? That it can do false diagonals? I believe that was fixed with the 40-H. The main issue with the d-pad on the 35-H was that it's hard as a rock and sucks ass to use for long play sessions (As in, longer than an hour). I can actively feel my thumb hurting when I use it unlike my 35-SP or 34XX.

The only other issues the 35-H had were the awful ergonomics which the 40-H addressed by making it more Vita-esque and the sticks being a pseudo d-pad rather than proper analog sticks which I believe the 40-H also fixed.

If your chinkheld wasn't sbcgaming's flavor of the month at one point and isn't an >anbernig, your only realistic CFW option is Cucknix
Because why would the chink manufacturers bother writing their own CFW when cocknix "just werks"
except it doesn't, so unless you fork and fix it yourself for your shitheld specifically you're SOL

$400 including shipping, for both an Odin 2 Pro and a Thor Pro. The Odin 2 is nearing 2 years old, still in great working condition.

I won't get anything else for years unless they both break. It's a perfect price point for longevity, compatibility and in the case of the Thor, portability.

I hate to say it but if you didn’t grab a used 3DS variant for cheap from 2011- early 2019, you were probably never going to. You had a very limited window of time from when zoomies were selling their 3DSes to pay for the Switch 1, and prices were permanently fucked from then on because gaming is too trendy and chic. The only solace is that maybe with DS Android clones the prices might eventually come back down, but probably not by that much because gaming is full of people treating it as an “investment”.

If its turned around backfacing it sounds better, i do think the two speakers are interfering with each other, might be that one is wired in reverse, meaning their sound waves cancel out.

>Portmaster is staunchly anti stock OS for several reasons,
Care to elaborate? I am honestly curious.
>>
>>12280904
Some manufacturer (Anbernig if memory serves) released their stock os with Portmaster preconfigured with a bunch of pirated games, notably Shredder's Revenge
So they did some moral grandstanding (really covering their butts against lawsuits) and stated they would not support any PM build shipped with stock OSs because piracy bad
>>
Should I get a Thor or an Odin 2 or 3 with pic related?
>>
Should I?
>>
>>12280904
What anon said is right, Anbernic started advertising these ports while bypassing Portmaster with the the whole legal prefacing and the proprietary files bundled, so they went nuclear. Portmaster people got the youtube shills to tell their anbernic contacts they were retarded and they backed off shortly afterwards, but then Powkiddy did it too and no one cared. Additionally, stock OS are often abandoned and poorly set up, so no point supporting them.

Does the RG35XX have a fake analog stick? The actual inputs seem to be digital 8 directions.

No, but there's software and hardware diagonal snapping. The former you can bypass by using any CFW, the latter requires replacing the sticks.
