So, uh, was Meteor defeated by Aeris from beyond the grave?
We just don't know.
didst thou not playest the game?
Yes,she redirect the mako to save earthThat's why people who wanted aerith to survive in those awfull "remake" are full on retards who didn't even understand the story
the meteor never existed it was all a hoax created using lasers reflecting off clouds
>>12278685>That's why people who wanted aerith to survive in those awfull "remake" are full on retards who didn't even understand the storyReminds me of R = U fags who don't care about the theory taking a big huge dump on the game's themes. Anyway, since the "remake" isn't a remake but a sequel, they can do whatever depending on how much weed they've smoked when writing the script.
No, Holy had the opposite effect
>>12279163extremely try hard shader, PS1 didn't have the image quality of a NES
>>12279169And then Advent Children said LOL
>>12278654That would mean Rufus was killed by Diamond Weapon from "beyond the grave".
>>12278654Dude, spoilers
>>12279160Nips don't smoke weed, it's completely unthinkable to them. Any retardation in their work is entirely from their own brains.
>>12279169>the planet forcibly converted everyone's souls into mako energy in order to deflect a small rockmako energy is horribly inefficient
>>12279169I don’t buy the idea that humanity was destroyed.
>>12279191Earthbending do be like dat
>>12279170>not an RFChadYou didn't experience the game.
>>12279192It's better to ignore all proclaimed authorial intent in this case. It's just fucking dumb and misanthropic cuckoldry from the chuuni tryhards at Square. Thank god FF is dead.
>>12278654Aeris returned to the lifestream after she died and when the meteor arrived at earth she channeled the worlds mako energy into stopping the meteor and saving all life on the planet. Due to Shinra being effectively destroyed, humans could no longer extract mako energy from the planet which caused Midgar to fall into disrepair and humanity abandoning it to live a more agrarian lifestyle elsewhere which explains the way midgar looks at the end of the game.
>>12279218Then another asteroid hits the Planet later and humanity has no way to stop it because they abandoned space travel and all intelligent life is wiped out.
the problem with ff7 threads is that 99% of the people in them never played ff7 and they're just regurgitating shit that came from the movies, spinoffs, or even worse, the remake, often quoting some yt video they saw that mixed all those together into a giant pile of slop
>>12279192>THE DOGS SHALL INHERIT THE PLANETThis was based
>>12279160>Anyway, since the "remake" isn't a remake but a sequel, they can do whatever They'll do what they're already doing: The same story with the added bullshit mixed in. You'll get the same ending like the OG, but the context of the ending will be different. They're setting something up with Cloud being some sort of arbiter for the fate of everything in 7's universe. The "5 seconds" nonsense Sephi spouted off at the end of Part 1 is the amount of time Cloud has to decide what to do before Meteor and Lifestream touch tips and the Empty Materia that had Holy's power at the end of Part 2 will turn into some sort of magic wishing machine with everyone's hopes, dreams and memories or some shit and Cloud will use that to cast something to unfuck Sephi's merging of worlds shtick, creating a New World of sorts and whatever Cloud decides will be left up to the player's interpretation. The FF13 trilogy was pretty much exactly that, give or take.
>>12279169what a gay ending
honestly cloud should just go back in time and kill sephiroth when he's still a baby
>>12279154Off Clouds what
>>12279163Cloud Strife thought he was a tough guy. He thought he could defend himself from anything. He was a SOLDIER. But in the sweltering hot summer of 1997, at Don Cornholio's den, he was raped.
>>12278654I can't wait for the remakes to over explain all of this shit because of retards like OP.
>>12278654it's been a hot minute since I played ff7 but I think she had already successfully activated holy before Sepheroth stabs her >>12279191>>the planet forcibly converted everyone's souls into mako energy in order to deflect a small rock>mako energy is horribly inefficientthe premise is that holy will do whatever it deems necessary to protect the planetit doesn't need to convert humans into mako to stop meteor, it wipes out humanity because it judges them as a threat to the planet thoughI think the childrens laughter at the end imply humanity has survived in some capacity
>>12279629>my head canon is canon because I say it is, okay?
>>12279629Isn't there a part of the game proper that has you return to the City of the Ancients with Bugenhagen post-Aeris' death, literally replays the cutscene where she dies, and plants the seed that Holy was successfully activated? Also, and going off memory here, but I want to say Red XIII says verbatim, "Holy is having the opposite effect," meaning it's aiding in Midgar's destruction as opposed to helping it. But then the Lifestream comes in clutch with the implication it was Aerith's will inside of it that sort of rallied it together, and what happens immediately after is left purposely ambiguous. But it doesn't seem implausible that it successfully repels Meteor, just not before it effectively destroys Midgar beyond repair.
>>12279714>theorycrafting based on the english translationjust stop unless you are fluent at japanese and have played the original japanese version
>>12279724I referenced exactly one line of dialog and the rest is thoroughly represented visually. I don't know what you get out of trying to gatekeep general discussion based on a language barrier like this, but it's retarded, and you should stop.
>>12279679>>12279724You didn't play the game.
>>12279679exactly what part of my post are you taking issue with cheif?
What I want to know is how Sephiroth ended up frozen in ice at the northern crater after Cloud drops him into the Nibel Reactor.
>>12279905idk how did he phase through the floor of the cargo boat and then fly through the roof after rambling incoherently
>>12279909I was under the impression it was a psychic projection he was broadcasting from the crater.
>the ship transporting the president of Shinra is infiltrated by both Avalanche and SephirothJust how incompetent can Shinra be...?
>>12279924how come barret didn't just sink the boat?
>>12279905the mako reactor is connected to the lifestream juice
why did they need mako energy when lightning materia was available in infinite quantities for pennies?
>>12280001what you gonna go with 5000 lightning materias and no MP?
>>12280008round up everyone in the slums, stick a lightning materia up their ass, and force them to live the rest of their life alternating between zapping a battery and sleeping at an inn
>>12280008Embed them in animals genetically engineered over generations to have high MP and fed with Ether pellets.
>>12280001Fire materia to power steam turbines is probably better.
why didn't cloud just use revive materia to bring aeris back to life?
>>12280020He forgot to unequip it from her before she died
>>12280020Because she was a street whore who had multiple men inside her and he was secretly glad she died.
>>12279192>>12279169Can't you hear children laughing in the ending or did I mandela that?
>>12280035He probably doesn't know what the ending means because they were basically vagueposting in vidya form. FF stories have no real narrative, that's why fans fill in the gaps. It's the Emperor's New Clothes as a series.
>>12280035Could be ghosts, or Red's.
>>12280045it had a pretty clear narrative (albeit with an unreliable narrator) until the end. either way though, vague endings are often the best endings for more complicated stories. it's more interesting to discuss your ideas among others than have something strange happen or just the usual forced happy end shoehorn.
>>12280219The narrative isn't that clear, there's a lot of nonsense and weak motivations from the villain, though it certainly beats FF8.I think it's better to have a point and not hide behind "open interpretations" when you actually aren't provoking any real thought with your work. Besides, Kitase shit on that directly himself, so it obviously wasn't done artistically, they were just mimicking other people's narratives.
>>12280235okay true about the villain(s?), although that's part of the unreliable narrator too considering his body (and possibly mind) has been dead for years.i see what you mean with having a point, but i don't think you have to leave that to the ending necessarily. you can simply express that throughout the work itself, although granted in ff7's case there were many diverging viewpoints among the cast.
