>all because nintendo just HAD to make it look like a VCR to entice us amerifats
Pure genius. Anyone know how to fix this permanently or have a decent aftermarket solution? I've already boiled this fucking thing like 5 times and it always gives me issues again after a few months. I'm aware the top loader doesn't have this problem but I'm not too fond of the fact that it only has RF out and I would really prefer not to spend hundreds on an officially modded AV console.

my solution was to clip the pin on the lockout chip. replace the 72 pin connector. and buy a flash cart that I never removed.

but really, disablint the lockout chip is the solution.

and btw Nintendo of America designed the NES. The prototype Nintendo sent from Japan looked more retarded than the famicom

and it wasnt this Fanicom AVS
>>

>>designed in a way where inserting and playing games as intended will damage the pin connector

That's just untrue. The real reason is that most kids were brats that didn't take care of their games and threw away the dust protectors.
NONE of my NES games ever refused to work the first time, every time.
My N64 games are the same way.
Wiki and youtube are poison for old information.

That "d-pad" is utterly grim
>>
>>12279337
the real truth is you didn't have to press the cartridge down for the game to work, but retards still do it.
>>
>>12279438
>the real truth is you didn't have to press the cartridge down for the game to work
For the original "toaster" model, yes you do. NES's that boot games without being pressed down have been modded.
>>
>>12279442
i promise you my nintedo from the 90s was not modded.
>>
>>12279337
>Anyone know how to fix this permanently
Take a very small jewelry screwdriver and bend the pins back into place.
This will make the connector "crunchy" and it will take some effort to insert the cartridge. You will no longer need to press down on the cartridge to lock it into place. From here on out most games should work much better, although the occasional blow on the edge connector before insertion may be necessary.

IMO this "mod" resolves 90% of blinking light problems.
>>
>>12279350
All I'm getting from your post is you just didn't play that many games as a kid, because it's the inserting and removing of the carts bending the pins away from the cartridge edge connector that causes the problem, not "dust".
>>
>>12279337
>boiled this fucking thing like 5 times
Why the fuck are you boiling a plastic connector, this is the dumbest shit you can do. You clean it and re-tension the connector and make sure your games are clean. It's not a fucking disc drive belt, it's a plastic shell around a metal skeleton, the tension of the skeleton will warp the plastic shell around it because the temperature of boiling water is past the point where ABS plastic softens.
>>
>>12279460
No, it's dirt and misuse. I was spoiled and had a shitton of NES games and everything else except Neo Geo. Everyone except me had the problem. It's a you and everyone else problem, and not my problem issue.
>>
There used to be a mod kit that replaced the pin connector on the NES with the same pin connector used in the top loader, but I forget what it was called and it was out of production last time I checked anyway.

I got an FC Twin that plays most NES carts perfectly. Castlevania III isn't one of them that plays well, but that game sucks anyway.

Fortunately I'm not a massive faggot so I probably won't be doing that anytime soon.

Daisy chain a bunch of 60-to-72 and 72-to-60 pin adapters together until you create a tower tall enough that the part you attach the cartridge too is sticking out of the console. Then just use that as your cartridge slot. Nothing will have to go in and out of your console ever again! Plus, you again the ability to use the Famicom Disk System!

this is a fucking bizarre thing to be defiantly [sic] wrong about

This is the weirdest troll thread I've ever seen. Literally every post is a low quality troll pretending to be an underage tard. Pretending, right?
>>
>>12279579
>[sic]
That isn't how you use that in your context. And I am correct. Even Nintendo came out and said kids were just careless, but you don't know that because you were 2 when they said it. Now you pretend to be more informed than me. Laughable.
>>
>>12279742
>That isn't how you use that in your context.
people on the internet spell definitely wrong often as defiantly and I wanted to make it clear that I am saying you are being defiant. Like I said it is bizarre you are so adamant about this despite it being easily verifiable. You can look up videos on the internet of people repairing NEsystem loaders by fixing the bent contacts. What a strange character.
>>
>>12279768
Anon, I know why you did it and what it's used for, but you don't use it that way.
Another thing your wrong about it the fix for the connectors. All you have to do is shirt the connection. You probably don't know what that means.
The reason for that (this is for the adults reading) is because of abuse done to the NES, probably from kicking and dropping, that misaligned the connector.

Before you blow a fuse, anon, realize and look up online if you aren't feeling lazy for once, that nearly all those who repair and replace the connectors do so in vain. They do not work.
Why don't they work? Because their entire NES is misaligned due to abuse.
You're welcome.
>>

*you're
(that invalidates my entire post oops I guess)
Again, I am correct. All those youtubers are wrong.

Yes you are. You're completely ignorant, yet you're trying to talk down to an expert. And I am an expert.
>>

Then just get the AV Famicom? Anon-kun you KNOW Japanese plugs and TV standards are the same as American ones right...
>>

Because I already have a collection of US games?? Don't be deliberately obtuse anon
>>
>>12280065
I have a Japanese AV Famicom and I play NTSC-U games on it and I'm European. Get a grip.

>>
>>12280707
[sic] is for quotations that include poor grammar and spelling, to acknowledge it's wrong. like this: this is a fucking bizarre thing to be defiantly [sic] [sic] wrong about
>>
just fix/replace the connector? boggles my mind how some retro gamers can't do basic maintenance and repairs on their stuff
>>
>>12280718
That is still wrong. You used a word that makes a different meaning and it's spelled correctly, so using the Latin "sic" is wrong.
You don't know English and it is not your first language.

>>12280719
>just fix/replace the connector?
It won't work because previous abuse and misuse misaligned the unit that attaches to the connector. Want proof? Go to any NES and instead of blowing the carts, just put a cart in once and shift it a bit--it now works. You're welcome.
This also means that the fix you're talking about works in a small fraction of units (that never saw violence).
>>
>>12280718
One more to see if you can understand how you're wrong. You don't use that for your sentence because otherwise you create an instance where the very correct usage is used. I am defiant, and also correct.
Now, you may think that is fine, but it isn't.
>>
>>12280734
*is used it prohibited
(I come from a family of teachers)
So if you were correct, then everyone who intended to say that I am defiant instead of "definitely" (something) cannot write their sentence correctly or without the Latin notation, which is completely stupid and insane.
Don't you get it? If you were correct, then everyone would have to include the Latin in practically ALL statements and messages because many words are similar.

tl;dr you are dumb and pretending to be smart.
>>
>>12280718
Deflecting is for coping. like this: >>12280718
>>
>>12280726
so then replace the cartridge tray? quick google search shows them going for $10~
>>
>>12280748
That might work, but depending on the level of violence, abuse, and misuse that may not even work because the entire plastic shell may be warped. An NES in Phoenix and one in Seattle are probably in radically different shapes.

>>
>>12280753
Just curious. Did you get this crazy shit from a youtube or did the voices in your head come up with it all on their own?
>>
Also wanna know also the reason I know it worked without having to push the cartridge down? cause game genie couldn't be pushed down when using it, which proves the point of just sticking in the cartridge into the nintendo without pushing down was always a thing.
>>
>>12280718
Language is a tool for me to use to convey my thoughts. You understood what I meant when I used that latin which means the tool worked so it was used correctly.
