>classics are being erased from the collective memory by shit remakes
Innovative will reach a bottleneck at this rate.
>>
I don’t understand why Konami still refuses to make an in-house studio to develop Silent Hill but are whoring it out to western and chinese studios instead. It didn’t work before and it won’t work now. Stingy motherfuckers.
>>
Not true, you just think it is because you're cynical.
People will always enjoy old things if they're good, most of the books I read these days are 100 year old murder mysteries written by people who dies decades before I was born and I love them more than most modern books.
Don't be so worried about shallow casuals.

The remake is rated 'overwhelmingly positive' on Steam and sold like hotcakes. Cry more autist, you're in the extreme minority.

Also, the OG Maria was ugly af.

I'll never understand why losers on slow boards on 4chan during work hours ever bring up popularity among normies as a defense of anything lol

do you only listen to whatever mumblerap that spotify plays automatically for you?? no? then you're in the extreme minority, retard.

>horror game
>does not induce any horror
why is it like this
>>

Music is whatever, but some random Internet contrarian going "um, actually this massively successful video game is complete garbage haha I'm such a snowflake" has literally no merit. I'll take Steam user reviews over this nonsense any day. They actually bought the game and aren't just baiting for (You)'s.

What's your point? I should trust a random anon instead? When he's most likely just ragebaiting for (You)'s.
>>
>>12280615
I think it's ok enough on a first run when you don't know what to expect but it's mainly the weak enemy roster and normal mode being badly balanced. manequins and the pukers are decent fodder enemies but only having nurses and mini abstract daddies as an escalation was pretty dismal, on replay you really don't have much to look forward to horror wise.
>>
>>12280637
>why should i trust some random anon!?
>im gonna trust some random person on Steam!
Why don't you play the game yourself? Oh yeah, because you gotta buy it full price to try it out these days because gaming fucking sucks and modern gaming is horrible... but at least Steam users give positive reviews!

I think the real question is why does a critically acclaimed and beloved video game have to be "remade" with RE4 controls
>>
>>12280647
The real-real question is
>Why remake SH2 before SH1???
and the answer is money. because SH2 has had people shilling it for decades while they call SH1 "embarrassing" for daring to feature an actual supernatural entity that can't be explained away with "oh it's interpretation! it could all be fake!"
>>
>>12280525
This is what I hate. Yeah I can still "play" the original, but to me it's not about playing games, it's about discussing it with people on the internet and having a community. Now because of these remakes no one wants to talk about the original releases.
>>
>>12280647
There are still some indie devs making fixed camera horror games (Tormented Souls 1/2, Echoes of the Living etc) , but it's a hard pass for most people. A free camera is just much more natural.
>>
>>12280609
>sold like hotcakes
Keep coping tranny it barely reached 2 million
>>
>>12280654
>Now because of these remakes no one wants to talk about the original releases.
It has a lot to do with the fact that the originals are not available for purchase. SH1's last official release was the PS3 digital download emulated version.
SH2 and SH3 are only available as the mangled and fucked-up "HD Collection."

Even if people wanted to, the only option to play is emulation or finding old PC releases on pirate sites with patched exes.
>>
Notice the contrast between RE remakes and the classics, Capcom fans still appreciate the original but for some reason Bloober trannies want to erase and reappropriate SH.
>>
>>12280665
They reported 2.5 million 2 months ago, which is 1/4 of the entire franchise's sales btw (10 million total).
>>
>>12280671
Everyone one can emulate games it’s no longer a niche thing.
>>
>>12280676
RE4 remake sold over 10 million. Bloober are losers.
>>
>>12280673
RE remakes are all made (besides 3, due to being rushed by a C-team) with the intention of pleasing and surprising returning fans well-familiar with the originals.
REmake 1 for example has
>dog hallway fake out
>crimson heads
>Lisa Trevor
>new areas
that all seemlessly fit into a game that is showing fans all this old imagery and getting them comfortable. like a constant meta-game with the fans where the devs provide something familiar and then throw a change-up in the middle of it.
>>
>>12280678
>can
but most will not, because they have to download multiple things across multiple sites and get everything setup and tweaked to get it going right.

Most people will search a store page and only find SH2 remake and SHf.
>>
>>12280659

Obviously I understand the commercial angle, but it's like saying we need to remake Citizen Kane in full color because B&W is a "hard pass" for most people.

In the end I don't really care if Konami wants to outsource an SH2 remake to some shitty studio because Konami themselves have never cared about or understood the success of Silent Hill, but it does bother me that the original games are not even accessible on modern platforms, and discussion of the game is being completely eclipsed by the remake online.
>>
>>12280739
>but it's like saying we need to remake Citizen Kane in full color because B&W is a "hard pass" for most people.
weak comparison. games have much more severe technical limitations than a grounded drama filmed in black and white. not to say that your overall point is wrong but don't use that as justification.
>>
>>12280746

Is that really true? SH2 is not a "hard" game. Tank controls will not prevent anyone from experiencing the story if they want to.
