God damn this game would have been so fucking based if we had gotten it and I could have grinded for hours after school. This is the perfect school bus ride game. But it's a huge chore to play as an adult.

After you get past the first four rivals, you quickly realize that your deck will never beat anybody else in the game, and so you have to keep fighting the same four rivals over and over and over and over again hoping for strong drops.
>>
Thats basically how it is for the gba titles. You buy booster packs and grind the currency against the same NPCs
>>
I did it. I beat Joey 100 times and got the 4th or 5th strongest card in the game.

Really though I think after about 30 battles you should have cards strong enough to beat most of the next stage opponents.

The second set of opponents vary a lot in difficulty. Kaiba is probably the hardest in the entire game due to his faggy Blue Eyes, while Mokuba is a joke.

The game is easier if you play on an inaccurate emulator thanks to the copy protection.
The copy protection replaces random cards that BEWD but also gives you a good chance to win a BEWD after every duel. Add in the fact that the AI is retarded and switches his BEWDs to defense mode if you have a BEWD in attack mode and then you have a very easy game.

I really enjoy the game boy ones even if the rules are a bit different than the actual card game. Having the elements of your card actually do something was neat and gave you a chance when the opponent suddenly busted out a blue eyes or gate guardian

The actual card game is really gay and retarded and the only good anime arc is the first arc so this game is literally perfect. This is what the card game should have been.

I beat all the stage 2 opponents, but then this Simon motherfucker pulled out a Dark Magician and kicked my ass. I probably could have survived if I had enough turns to draw a field or equip card but he swept the fuck out of me. Hoping that was just a case of bad luck and that I don't have to start grinding for even stronger cards.

Yeah, that's his only really strong card. His deck as a whole is weaker than Kaiba's, so if you can reach him, you can beat him.

I beat the game. I guess I overestimated how hard the second stage was. When I first played against Weevil, he pulled some card with I think 1400 strength, and my strongest card was 1100, no field or equip cards, and I got swept. Played against Mai and the same thing happened. But now that I look at their decks, I probably just got unlucky, as most of their cards are actually weak. I probably could have just built up my stronger deck by fighting against Mai and Weevil instead of grinding against Joey. But going for the 100 battles actually was worth it, as I ended up getting an insanely strong warrior deck and a red eyes black dragon at the end of it. I guess there's nothing really to do now except try and go for 100 battles against everybody else? I'm not autistic enough for that. I'm autistic enough to do it once but now that I beat the game I'm definitely moving on.

Thanks to the anon who had some tips about the opponent decks.

Go for every single card.

That's crazy talk. There are cards that require you to beat x amount of different opponents in a link battle. Tremendous Fire requires beating 200 different people in multiplayer. The only way to really do that today without using a cheating device would be to self-battle with two copies of the game. Farm wins with your main cart while you delete and remake the save file on your side one after every duel.
