>see original movie
>like it
>they decide to make a director's cut
>hey, maybe they'll add back in that cut scene of Cleon picking out the guys he'll take with him to the meet and assigning them positions
>nope, they actually cut a few bits here and there to make room for ugly comic image scene transitions that stick out like a sore thumb
>nearly everywhere replaces the original with the director's cut shit version
I fucking hate the director's cut. The worst offender in the lot is the scene where they get out of the subway and see the Baseball Furies for the first time. In the original Ajax is looking around for the others and yells out "Where are they?!" before he notices the BF's and his face falls, and he says "oh shit". In the director's cut, it starts with a comic panel of Ajax looking shocked with the text "oh shit", then goes live action after the bit is over and they are staring each other down. The director's cut removed nearly the entire scene, leading to the Warriors teleporting out of the subway and into the encounter with the BF's. I was hoping for a more complete Warriors with the cut scenes returned, but instead I got an even more cut down version of the movie.
>>
>>12282758
That fucking director's cut is the worst fucking thing ever, i hate it so much, thank fuck i found a decent quality theatrical cut.

What is THAT mission for you?
For me, it's All-City.

Director's cut blows.

The mission where you first go into Orphans turf after they were talking shit and when they see the Warriors they all run scared.

Alternatively
>Open your eyes muthafucka, you ain't nothing but ashes.
>>
>>12284472
Anon, to be clear I meant more missions that just made the game fucking unplayable and you absolutely dread every single play through.
>>
>>12284479
Opps I thought you meant kino missions. In that case.
FUCK all city
FUCK the Moon Runners
FUCK fighting Chatterbox in the amusement park.
I need another playthrough. It's contender for my favourite game of all time. We dont games with this much love and content in them anymore.
Side question. Do any of the modern console ports improve frame rate and performance?
>>
>>12282758
yeah i hated discovering this shit.

>Kino Missions
FUCK
For me it might be Set Up, or the first High Hats level only because I did that fucking chase all the time as a kid and would try my best to handicap myself during it.
But yeah, I'm thinking of skipping via level skip cheat.
I couldn't tell you, I don't know I'm playing with PCSX2 which you need to set the framerate to 120% so the game runs smooth.

I think it's this weird anxiety I get with All-City, you're going against cops and a gang, but it was relatively easy.
However, it still fucking blows and should be way earlier, or outright taken out.
Writer's Block did it better.
>>
>>12284060
I've always felt like the worst missions in the game were all from scenes of the movie; missions 14 through 18.
You've got all the running towards the screen segments, like you're playing fucking Crash Bandicoot. The final boss fight is about chucking broken bottles at Luther. The Lizzies fight is annoying.
I appreciate them sticking to the source material, but the shit they made up just for the game is just so much better.
>>
>>12286163

this game fucked me up
>>
>>12286163
the fight with the punks is one of the highlights of that part of the game, much like the movie.

Snow, who I always assumed he got the name because the idea he's as quiet as falling snow. Also it's a good reason to replay The Warriors with a friend as first player because Snow is often the second player.

It's got this weird "Retro-Future" gritty feel, I can see why Walter did the Director's cut with the whole "It takes place in the future" mindset, when it clearly doesn't.
If it DOES take place in the future, it's in the 70's version of the future where everything is mostly the same.

If you don't fight the Furies in Mission 4, you're a coward You can win btw
>>
>Mfw when you unlock armies of the night
>Mfw when you unlock unleash the furies mode
They literally do not make games like this anymore, all this bonus unlockable content as part of the base game. Made by people who had love and admiration for the source material and what they set out to achieve.

I made a save state with a friend there as you can't win, and it's basically a built in survival mode.

Can you post your copy? Finding a decent version of the theatrical cut is a surprising pain in the ass.
>>
I actually downloaded a PSP emulator on my phone to play this while in downtime at work, and was surprised at how it held up, although the port is kinda lacking with character numbers in fights, so that's kinda lame, even rumble mode reduces the 9v9 mode into 6v6

>>12286163
Honestly, for me the defend the Coney Strip mission and the last segment of Destroyed (the sneaking and boss fight, I could never understand what I was suppossed to do in the 2nd phase besides throwing bottles and getting kicked) are the only sections that feel like a chore to me. I do agree that some of the movie missions like Friendly Faces and Come Out And Play don't offer much, but Desperate Dudes and No Permits, No Parley are pretty fun, especially the later, Home Run is fine
>>
>>12289615
Kino song and the only reason I didn't go mad the first time I played Writer's Block
>>
>>12282758
For me the worst change was the ending walk towards the beach, in the original it's a long walk with a lot of sovl (I love when the water hits their feet and one of them does a little jump and Swan and Mercy raising their arms), while in the director's cut they freeze frame after like 2 seconds of walking
>>
Favorite gang leader?

I think youtube has the original up for free streaming these days. I feel like they've had the rights to the good version for half a year or so now. They also had that shit version up too but that was years ago.

So upon beating this game, I'm just kinda meh about it.
It was fun when I was a kid and I mostly had fun up until the actual "movie" itself, All-City is such a shit point and from then on the game becomes a roller coaster but has some cool ideas, Friendly Faces should've just been a cutscene or something it was so stupidly short.
Anyway, I liked the chasing segments.

If you tape two bats together on one handle it's one bat..... so like... no she doesn't...

Though if we had a Savage Hun fight where the person is wielding two bats like samurai swords or some shit that'd be rad.
>>
vermin: i got the big one
ajax: whip it out wimp

ajax: you going faggot?
>>
>>12285258
Personality wise:
>Ajax
>Vermin
Gameplay wise:
>Swan
>Cochise

I love how the game has a lot of little details like how you can throw the bat to an opponent's legs just like Swan did against a cop in the movie, they don't make 'em like this anymore

Just watched this on Tubi (it doesn't have those comic scenes people were mentioning) and Ajax is easily the highlight of the movie. He's the only member that creates any real tension. After he gets caught the movie loses a lot of energy.
