The original Alice stuff is free domain but American McGee's Alice is still copyrighted by EA. Plus we don't know what any contracts say that he had with EA, they could've also stipulated that he's not allowed to work on anything Alice related outside of that.
Is the sequel any good? I enjoyed the original back in the day.
