An action puzzle game similar to Wario Land 2/3 or the handheld Klonoa games. I did not care enough to 100% it, but it was nice enough for a regular playthrough.
>>12294056>the sword does not replace the "i"Do they even title screen?
Mole ManiaA really nice action puzzle game. The puzzles aren't too hard, they're not Lolo 3 tier, I managed to solve them all without outside help, but some puzzles did get me stumped for a while and the solution isn't always obvious from the start. The game gives you a bit of leeway in that you're allowed to skip one room per level with the help of an item (though the stage won't be 100% and you'll have to redo the entire stage over to even re-attempt the one room; but not of that is required to beat the game)
Is the thread about Game Boy hidden gems?>>12294267underrated. I'm gonna replay it with the color patch
>>12294616>Is the thread about Game Boy hidden gems?Anything goes. I tried the GB version of Ghostbusters II and it's ass, even though I love the NES version
>>12294056Really good GB platformer. Actually, I've been feeling that GB had a better library than NES. It also helps that game design had already improved a lot when GB came to market, and also the console's hardware allows you to do more things.
>>12294847I've played a lot of great GB games but I still prefer the NES, GB games tend to be shorter, more simple and less challenging though there are exceptions. It makes sense (especially the simpler/shorter aspect) considering they were half price compared to console games but still.
>>12294056Weird I randomly picked this up the other day from a romlist and have been enjoying it. It can be pretty frustrating but ultimately pretty fun.
>>12294056>Samurai Kid (GBC)Daiku no Gen-san on GBC plays similar to it.
>>12294847I like the relative shortness of GB games. They're just such tight experiences, out of necessity for sure. But, I like that quality. It's one of the main irritations I have with modern games actually. They're incredibly bloated.
Been curious about it, how long is it?>>12294267This just got a DX patch
>>12294847GB+C library utterly annihilates the NES library, even if you include unlocalized Famicom games
>>12295181Neat, I've only played the GB game. I'll check it out.
>>12295181What the hell, it's basically the same game mechanics. Same dev though.Too bad this piece of shit game/translation freezes here in BGB
>>12296479>>12295181You have to update to latest mGBA, the game freezes in everything elseThis game has some really annoying puzzles though at times, some things really piss me off
>>12295312lol no it does not. not even close. its great, but no.
best GBC game only Ive played
>>12294847Not only is the GB library better than the NES library in terms of quality but the GB is better hardware as well. GB has more sprites per scanline than the NES and the GB isn't region locked either.
>>12294056Looks like a sideview-locked Goemon
>>12297040This game deserves no romhacks It's just that perfect. Feels like SM64 movement in 2D.
>>12297040What emulator and settings do I need to use to get this color palette? Gambette doesn't seem to allow it.
>>12297379That's emulating the Super Game Boy, I just disabled the borders for the screenshot. I'm using BGB but most emulators should support the SGBPicrel is another SGB
>>12297317It's quite different from Goemon outside of the Japanese theming, it's more akin to Wario Land 3 or the handheld Klonoa games in that it's focused on puzzle solving but with enemies
BUMPTell me which GB/C games you recommend
>>12299338Cave Noire
>>12296615I loved this game as a kid. Someone told me it's basically a golf game. I never made that connection but I guess it sort of is
>>12300498no, that would be kirbys dream course.
>>12296615>had this gem>tried playing on stock GBC>could never get the sun to light the screen while tilting >sold it for pennies>years later install IPS on GB>finally can see the screen regardless of angle>look up the pricesfuck my poyo life
>>12299338Is there a pack of these types of images?
>>12302775you can play it on a phone or android chinkheld with my oldboy. also on a switch but imo it really doesnt work great doing that.
>>12300498>>12303113it also plays well on wii using the wiimote for gyro stuff, from what i remember
>>12299338WARLOCKEDRTS, two separate campaigns, collectible wizards that can do everything from change units into chickens, gold, or can turn them into walking plague bombsEvery time you beat a level, whatever units and offensive buildings you have left go into a persistent multiplayer mode (which isn't really relevant now, and hardly then because nobody bought the fucking game) but it's still fucking coolhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U9-JlKC1uPY
Is this harder than the Famicom game? I can't even seem to get any fish to bite
>>12304138Seriously I've been at this for 1 hour and I can't even catch a single fish, the only 2 things I got to bite either was super small and the line breaks the split second I try to reel it in; or a fish so big that my rod isn't strong enough to reel it in. All I'm doing is wasting money on bait.I don't get this game, the famicom version wasn't hard like this. I've tried every combination of hook, bait, floater/sinker
>>12304178It's been some time since I played it. You gotta try different types of rods, hooks and bait combinations until a fish takes interest, once the fish bites you let it swim away until it starts slowing down or stops moving, that's when you reel in as far as I remember.I suggest writing down fish names, their location and the best method you find to catch them.
>>12304616Yeah I got the hang of it now. There are some many different options compared to the original FC game that it takes more time to figure out what works in some cases, though it seems that a couple of main things work for a lot of different fish and that fly fishing has some redundacy.I'm digging the SGB colour palettes, reminds me of Pokémon B/R
>>12294056thanks collage anon, I collect these kind of images.
>>12299338I had fun with the jungle boook game, but I was a kid and it was late 90s.
>>12294056Why do most GBC games had white as their primary color, compare to this >>12297491
>>12305267my eyes
>>12305273white was less visually oppressive and made the sprites more readable on the dogshit screen with no backlight.
Look at him go
>>12304616Do you remember where to use the axe? I figured (not sure) that the Guardian is in the pond on the left side of the third area (J I J on page 22 https://www.thegameisafootarcade.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/03/Legend-of-the-River-King-Game-Manual.pdf ) but I tried using the axe on every tile to try and reach that area and nothing worksI'm close to opening up a guide but it'd be a shame to do it so close to the end when so far I've done everything without a guide
>>12306873>>12304616nvm, I found it! Guardian, here I come
>>12299338 Hamtaro: Ham-Hams Unite! I'm dead fucking serious, too.
>>12305267>>12305273A single sprite can use four total colors. Two of those colors are usually reserved for black and either white or a color that is made transparent, leaving two other colors to make up most of the detail.Using a white background lets you basically cheat, combining white and your transparency into one color.
>>12307927I beat the entire thing. Don't remember shit but it was cute.
>>12307947Yeah well usually games did that with black.
>>12305078Something about Interplay/Western games on the GB. It's that the collision was fixed. I think they went buck wild on the frames on the 16-bit consoles and forgot to fix the hitboxes. Capcom's Interplay-like Pinocchio has the same collision detection problem. Although in my opinion it's a better game than most Interplay Disney games.

WTF does this bitch want, I tried showing her all kinds of flowers, fish (including a Rockfish) and bugs. She said she wanted something pretty (I tried Pretty Fish too)

What game makes the best use of SGB colours, that isn't Pokémon or Donkey Kong?
