Just about all of them actually transform you into a dragon instead of just acting like the equivalent of a summon spell like they did in 1 and 2, you stay that way and continue the battle in that form until you choose to change back, run out of MP, or get knocked out.
serious question, is it better than 4 and 2? because I played those but quit halfway because they were so boring. 4 is fucking beautiful but holy shit I got 20+ hours in and nothing happened. and the battle system was interesting but even the boss fights presented absolutely zero challenge so whats the point even.

It's full of sad and emotional moments. Like realizing Garr killed your entire tribe. Or when you finally met Rei after like 10 hours or Teepo even later. That is complete and utter feelkino.

It really is.If you think about the design, it is simple but works. Three person party, no action commands at all, good and fast UX.Good meta games like the master system, faeries and fishing.Even annoying parts like the deserts at least defy the player and gets stuck in the back of the mind. Better than samey-samey games. Lufia 2 is great but gets a little formulaic fast.And to top it off, great designs, great songs and everything a game needs to stand out and strong.I get happy that BoF1 got a lot of love in the Switch SNES classics. It's barebones, but has a lot of charm too, too bad the game math in there is just bullshit most of the time.

Sounds like I’ll have to try it. I’ve never played and breath of fire games although I’ve had 1 & 2 on every snes emulator folder I’ve ever had, and recently added 3 & 4 to my anbernig. I’ve played to death everything squaresoft over the last 20+ years. I also couldn’t remember the difference between Fire emblem and breath of fire, I think I thought this series was Fire emblem. Also I recently heard breath of fire 1 is horrible. Any way sounds like 3 is a good one to try as I did live ffx back in the day and ff7 is my favorite so sounds similar to my tastes. I just beat Metal Max returns for snes , aeon genesis translation and highly recommend that.

BoF 3 has sooo much soul. The game has amazing visuals, music, sound effects and ambient sounds. And the game has COLOR, something severely lacking in it's lackluster sequel. I get all the criticisms that the game's story and plot gets but honestly you play this game for the comfy vibes man. It's a grand adventure and the music, environments, gameplay and charm are way more than enough to carry the entire game and make it the legendary RPG that it is.
