It wasn't that good.
6/10.
>>
FEAR is the reverse Doom 3. They barely put in any horror and put all focus on badass combat.
>>
>FPS was... le mediocre
When will jannies permaban this spammer?

>They barely put in any horror
There's plenty of "do nothing" hallway segments and similar moments that are specifically meant to spook you.
>>
Linear corridor slop
>>
Max Payne but worse
>>
>>12302367
It had some amazing atmosphere for the time. The plot was bad, but the game felt good to play.
>>
>weapon limit
>repetitive enviroments and enemies
>bland graphics
>press slow mo to win
It was dissapointing
>>
>>12302367
Also the visuals are shit.
>>
>>12302487
>The plot was bad
I thought it was pretty neat. Someone being forced into sensory deprivation their entire childhood gaining supernatural powers is a cool concept.

Poor's man Half Life
>>
Nothing filters the adhd ridden zoomerbrain more than this game.
>>
>>12302617
It's literally a zoomer game
>>
>>12302367
It's not really retro, it's a 360 game and it's actually good. Troll thread
>>
Going from the kino monolith blood and no one live forever to Nolf2 and Fear was painfull

What a downgrade
>>
>>12302619
Right, a zoomer game that came out when the oldest among them were 9 years old. Retard.
>>
>>12302627
People hating on NOLF 2 baffle me even more than people who hate Max Payne 2. NOLF 2 had everything great that NOLF1 had.

What don't you like about it?
>>
>>12302646
The "RPG" mechanics
The lame environnement
The writting and story
>>
>>12302646
The only improvement is stealth. The actress is yuck.
>>
>>12302367
it's a 10/10 7/10 game
>>
>>12302367
Its problem for me is that the horror aspect is almost entirely scripted setpieces that only last seconds. Beyond that, Its basically just your typical 2000's linear FPS.
>>
>>12302509
It's a "cool conept" but that doesn't mean the plot is good.
>>12303591
This. I was hoping for more horror stuff, and maybe a more episodic game where you encountered different things on each mission. Like "hunt a monster in a forest" level would be neat, get out of the corridors and wander around hearing your squadmates getting picked off one by one.

But instead it's "army of clones, spooky little girl 'cause The Ring, more clones, clones, clones, invisible ninjas for 10 minutes, clones, clones, robots, clones" and then I fucking gave up out of sheer boredom at shooting the same fifteen guys in linear corridors over and over. Game was a disappointment to me.

I love this game, I can just jump into it and have a blast for a few hours
>>
>>12304223
>I can just jump into it and have a blast
Not really the case. Lots of scripted cinematic parts. But if you have saves in the right places then it's great fun.
>>
You have to be a non-zoomer to appreciate it, you need a soul.
>>
>>12302367
OP missed out on a spooky kino back then and now he's seething
>>
>>12304513
FEAR advertised itself as way more spooky than it really was. The sequel was actually scary, the went full force on the horror.
>>
oh look a bunch of people who get their talking points from youtube

the game was scary af, the combat and atmosphere is what keeps it a hood classic.

>>12304513
many such cases of seething chudjaks
>>
>>12302367
I played the demo when I was a teenager after release and played abit of the start of the game, this game would kick your ass if you didn't abuse the slowmo, literaaly hard mode.
>>
>>12303591
>Beyond that, Its basically just your typical 2000's linear FPS.
I found the gunplay and encounter design vastly better and more engaging than contemporaries, with the exception of maybe Soldier of Fortune. Wouldn't call it perfect but worth revisiting imo.
To be fair other FPS games were doing other stuff that made up for the weaker gunplay.
>>
>>12303591
The severe lack of scary moments was disappointing but the gunplay was incredible.
>>
>>12302627
>no one live forever
garbage game
>>
>>12307296
insubstantial opinion discarded
>>
Poor's man Half Life
>>
>>12307296
Monolith games are D tier
>>
>>12309973
Episode 1 of Blood is great
>>
By current /vr/ standards, every FPS game is shit
>>
>>12302367
It was reasonably fun for exactly one playthrough and I wanted to kill myself within an hour of replaying it the following year
>>
>>12310489
If you ignore everything /vr/ says about FPS games, you get a better idea about them.
>>
>>12310610
>>12310489
Get better taste
>>
>>12310494
It suffers from unskippable scripted events like most 2000s shooters.
>>
>>12311765
00s fps were never good and should be a bannable offense
>>
>>12302367
Monolith sloppa
>>
>>12302367
Halo mogged it
>>
>>12311765
I remember watching my slow-reflexes dad play FEAR for the first time, he got onto the roof and managed to pop off three shots with the handgun at the scripted swings-plank guy before that cutscene began
