Do these cloned XStations on AliExpress work just as well? I haven't found enough feedback on whether they have compatibility shortfalls.Should you feel bad for not buying an authentic model?
>>12305671Better mod a PS2 with PSBBN and play all your PS games there
>>12305671>Do these cloned XStations on AliExpress work just as well?No idea, I bought the real one before these started popping up.Should you feel bad for not buying an authentic model? No. It's an open source project, just like the Summercart, the Saroo or the SD2SNES. That way anyone can make one or contribute to the project.
>>12305679This isn't necessarily for me, it's for a PS1 I got in a big bundle of faulty consoles. But I'm interested in expanding my ability with working with electronics so fixing the PS1, which has a nonfunctional disc drive, might be a fun project. But before I dig in I'd like to at least know if buying a cheaper option is fair.Apparently the XStation is on the way out anyway. The guy behind it is prototyping a new solderless ODE for the PS1 that will apparently work with any model. It's just been in development for a long time.
>>12305679I've been using psbbn for a while and it's honestly too slow to use in a daily scenario. Neutrino with the XMB interface has all the same features but loads much faster.
>>12305671Isn't the official xstation cheap? Why get a clone?
>>12305978The official one I saw was like $120. Is that "cheap"?
>>12305992Really?I remember buying it for 80
>>12305679dude, that just uses POPS, literally one of the worst PSX emulators of all time, the OP is about playing on real hardware
Xstation is a really good product and Rama is developing it still, so there's more features on the horizon while the new hardware is still in development. It's the best way to play PS1. I haven't heard of any problems with fake ones and from when they came around Xstation FW was already very stable.>>12306005Yeah this is a flawed way of going about things. Would be nice to tap into the real PS1 HW.
>>12306127>Would be nice to tap into the real PS1 HW.the hdd/usb/network/whatever physically has no connection to the psx hardware in a ps2, so there's 0% chance of that ever happening without an extensive hardware mod
>>12306418Which is what an ODE is...
>>12305671Yes they work. >I haven't found enough feedback on whether they have compatibility shortfalls.highest firmware supported is from 12.2024>Should you feel badnot really
>>12305992Cheaper than replacing a console
