It's just outright broken on PC and the PS4 and modern ports are all based on the PC version. It's very glaring when you grew up on the original PS1 version that all battle scenes lack proper shading. There's probably a thousand minor glitches and issues under the hood. Those can now be fixed.Mods exist, but you can just have a clean and simple "source port" for the game to run at 60fps without any issues rather than a menagerie of mods.

These N64 games are impressive but on hampered hardware and nintendo is too lazy to reprogram the games for modern hardware, jsut running cheap lazy emulation. You can play Mario 64, Ocarina of Time, and Perfect Dark at clean 60fps now. Full camera control is nice too. Do you like fangames? Super Mario World and Doom are two common engines for fan games.

But they're back forever because the FF7 PC version is based on the beta. A lot of tiny little changes and bugs exist there. So a proper source port would probably have a "mouths on/off" option.

So where/how are all these decomps happening lately? I just assumed the Zelda decomp was from that big leak yet I keep seeing new stuff being advertised with decomps, is there some new tech available that wasn't before? Computer speed?
