What's a good emulator front end in the year of 2000+26? I don't mind RetroArch cores, I just don't like the frontend it uses.My setup:I use Steam on my PC, and I often run it in big picture mode from my TV. I'd like something vaguely similar to Steam's big picture mode where I can navigate with my controller and there's cover art for everything. RetroPie had themes for this back when I used that but obviously I can't run a raspberry pi image on a PC.Pic unrelated
>>12306013I hate the frontend, and have some problems with the cores and their maintainers too. Fuck Retroarch.Attract Mode is a nice frontend, I've got it set up to open with a system selector and then different themes per system, like the Pac-Man theme for arcade games, and some wheelart themes for various other systems
>>12306013Retroarch lets you choose between multiple GUI's
>>12306013>literal McJarpig
>>12306461Don't you dare speak blasphemy about my wife Dabuchi Tabemi or I swear to god I will burn down your house and you will lose your entire retro game collection
>>12306567>because of the Japanese language’s limited number of consonant blends and lack of a terminal R sound, it gets pronounced as “Daburu Chiizubaagaa.”>Among fans, though, McDonald’s “Daburu Chiizubaagaa” is more commonly called by its abbreviated nickname, “Dabuchi.”Literally what
>>12306013Attractmode. Simple enough to set up, but versatile enough to customize if you want to dig deeper. works with artworks and assets from hyperspin.>>12306459>Retroarch lets you choose between multiple GUI'sThey are all shit, though.
>>12306572That's just how abbreviations work in Japanese. DABUru CHIizubaagaa being shortened to DABUCHI is exactly the same as POKEtto MONsutaa being shortened to POKEMON. It's the same mechanism. Also her entire name is a pun, which is really common in anime. Her name is Dabuchi Tabemi which basically means "Try a double cheese burger"
>>12306013Emulation Station is pretty nice, has multiple themes so if you don't like one you can use another. Can use retroarch cores as well as standalone emus.
>>12306013>Good emulator frontend?The command line.
>>12306719>Emulation StationI tried a few front ends and I stuck with this one. Launchbox is good too, but it's slower and eats your ram.
>>12306013Personally I use launchbox for everything before ps2
>>12306719That is.... Literally the one from RetroPie. Somehow I hadn't realized that it's available for desktop too.
>>12306013I want to try Batocera, but I haven't gotten around to it, yet. It's only have to have a dedicated machine for emulators through. I know you said you want to use your PC directly with a TV but a dedicate emulation computer probably wouldn't cost much.
>>12306013i use launchbox for everything. got a lifetime license years ago when they were like $20.you can download custom skins and tweak the skins themselves in text documents.
>>12307946>lifetime license
>>12307956Yeah, and it looks like a web app or something. That's not remotely a good UI for TV use via a controller
>>12306013I think RetroArch has a desktop mode now, though I'm not sure, anyways I love the XMB.
>> "I don't wanna use Retroarch, I don't like it">You should use Retroarch it's good!
