The fact this launched without a screen light of any kind is still insane to me. My sister and I both got one when they launched and there was no good games for them early on. Hated the horizontal crap and still do

At least Metroid had its heydey here, and Zero Mission was more than just a 1:1 shit port. Golden Sun is overrated shit, Advance Wars is fun but depends to much on bullshit for that requires you to just autistically memorize almost every map through trial and error. The Battle Network series is a bunch of samey crap with artificially lengthened gameplay that just insults the player by making them waste time on the most obnoxious shit ever.The GBA is rotten roadkill skunk ass.

But most of the time it never was a big deal for whatever reason. I had the snake light and it sucked though. But as an adult any game boy without a light is just unplayable. Can’t even see the screen indoors. The SP came out when I was a teenager but my little brother had one that I used for awhile since he didn’t really play a lot of handheld games and then got a DS lite, whereas I was the one with actual gameboy games.
